The Eternal Question: PS3 or X360?

I've been debating which system to shell out my money for, but I haven't completely made up my mind yet. I'd appreciate your suggestions very much. Which console should I get??

I should tell you guys, most importantly, I think, that I am not a big fan of FPS titles. Halo, Killzone, Gears and its ilk has never appealed to me very much (though I respect them as quality games).

I'm a big-time RPG fan. It's usually the genre that helps me decide which system I'm going to get. For this reason, buying a PS2 over an Xbox was an easy decision, as RPGs poured in on PS2 and barely came out at all on the Xbox. This time around, it's a bit more complicated, though.

Mistwalker is developing for X360; that's big. Two major RPG titles are on the way for X360, Infinite Undiscovery and Lost Odyssey. Both look quite good to me thus far.

In the blue corner, the PS3 has some exclusive RPGs to examine, as well. I'm very much attracted to both Level 5's RPG (can't remember the title; it's the one about the White Knight) and Square's The Last Remnant. Oh, and FFXIII should be amazing once it rolls around. =)

I'm not much of a techie, so it's a bit difficult for me to dissect the hardware advantages/disadvantages of the two systems. If some of you could fill me in, I'd appreciate it.

If you like WRPG over JRPG, pick up a 360 (Waaaay more WRPG goodness than PS3)

But from your post, you seemed to mention mostly JRPGs. Id pick up a 60gb PS3 if you could find one. Having the whole PS2 rpg lineup upscaled plus the PS3 rpg line up that is in the future is a win/win,

Do you really think that they wont release it in the states? They have all of the translating and voice overs done already because of the 360 version... Why would they not release it?

Because PS3 software sales are horrible in NA? It's ever worse if the game has already been out on another system for several months, better to use the shelf space for other titles.

you can't compare garbage rpg's like eternal sonata(yes i know it's not excusive anymore) and blue dragon to freaking awesome like white knight story and final fantasy 13+VERsus.

and yes i know none of the latter games are out but even before they are out i can already tell you they will obviously be better

360 has much more rpgs.

Eternal Sonata,lost odyssey,Infinite Undescovery,Mass Effect,Too Human and the always bashed Fable 2 which is gonna be awesome.

If you can name more rpgs out on the PS3 right NOW than get a ps3.

Hybrid games:
Too Human(the different roles like the guardian make it like a MMORPG-lite so its doesnt have to be a shooter, its more like diablo if you look at the loot.)

As both a non-shooter fan and a shooter fan i can say the 360 has fulfilled my needs with games like Gears of War and Blue Dragon being on one system. Two great geners on the same platform dont have to sacrifice anything.

oh BTW last remnant is coming to the 360

Edit 2: Sqaure is producing Infinite Undiscovery, Tri-Ace is dev with Microsoft funding. Mistwalker has no part in Infinite Undicovery but they are working on Cry On.

just like to point out that last remnant is on 360 aswell:P anyway..if your really like rpg's then your best of with the 360 atm -- blue dragon, eternal sonata, oblivion, entchanted arms and with lost oddyssy and mass effect on the horizon it isnt hard to see y the 360 is dominating in this genre. ps3 also has oblivion and enchanted arms, but it isnt worth shelling out the extra £$£$£ just for the ps3 versions.. oo and dont listen to cows that cry TEH FINAL FANTASY 13 !! because it wont be out till 2009 :P and if ps3 sales carry on the way they are now then i can garuntee there will be a 360 portpro-nathan-07

Man, I still remember reading in an XBOX magazine back in 2003 saying that GTA had like a 40% chance of appearing on XBOX, and it happened.. Then they said that there was a slim chance of FFXI appearing on an XBOX console, and it appeared on XBOX 360. And is FFXI any good?

If you like RPG's, PS3 is your system as the xbox 360 is a "shoot'em up" system for the most part except for a few RPG games. PS3 already has Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Ratchet & Clank (not sure if this qualifies as RPG), and more RPG's coming soon like Uncharted. I'd have to warn you that the 360 has some serious hardware problems though. PS3 is the way to go. Reliability, Great Games, and More Bang for the Buck.

The problem with the 360 isn't just having 90mm chips. heck the PS3 has those and no problems at all or barely 1% of all PS3 are faulty. The chips will probably help a little, but they are not guaranteed to take your problems away. Even M$ is not comenting on whether it will actually fix the problem or not. the whole design of the 360 is screwed up all together, and it has a very crappy DVD drive heatsinks..etc.

Also, great games? The 360 has way more games that are better than the entire PS3 library. Get the 360 dude, better online and more games.

I had a similar decision as yours two months ago. My decision laid on Grand Truismo instead of RPGS but come on now, we all know Japan owns the RPG market through videogame histroy.and being as it is, the Japanese just don't care too much for the 360.

PS3 all the way for you, don't even doubt it.
