http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Games/THE_EYE_OF_JUDGMENT -- This is huge!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ay9yB8o5MY0&mode=related&search=

I don't know if this will sell units here in the US. But it looks promising. This is what Pokemon and YuGiOh should be as far as combining video games and card games. If Microsoft is smart -- they would do this with Magic TG cards and their video cam.

I am just surprised Sony fans haven't even talked about this here. I think this looks awesome. Even it flops, this could change how we play card games.

Heavily hyped for me. Hell, even Penny Arcade took notice of this game and jumped on it. I've played it already and have three of the alternate art promos for Bomber. I will have this on release and probably a few boxes of the cards.

Doubtful anything like that could happen. Eye of Judgement is being made with help from Wizards of the Coast, the creators of Magic the Gathering. I would assume there is some sort of exclusive deal here and that if successful, we might see some other Wizard's properties hit the console.

Well, card games are not usually hyped, it really is a very unique idea, and I give them props for that, but at the end of the day, it's just a card game.

I was thinking that it could do similar to guitar hero in reviews, for being the 'card game' of videogames.

Reason that this game isn't hyped is that only American Adults play childrens card games. Considering that there are no American "adults" here, no one here plays :).

Cookie to whoever gets the reference, in America.

The fact that you are merging two mediums to interest those who aren't usually into video games is big. Especially considering you have a huge following in this genre. Look at Pokemon. That franchise basically kept Nintendo a float pre-GC days.

Card game plus webcam equals failure. How much is it going to cost when you add the price of the PS3 cam woth the game? Failure at many levels. It's also bound to be buggy as hell.

My concern with this game is the limited playfield. All my strategies in my Magic TG days involved more than 4-5 cards. I'm worried there will be no compex strategies to devise. I guess I need to know more about this game.

Well part of hte reason is that it's pretty much the poster child for nerdiness, and most people don't want to be called nerdy.

Eye of Judgement is a horrific idea - it combines the worst aspects of videogames with the worst aspects of card games. I love a videogame that requires me to buy $4 booster packs when I want new pieces. They could have bucked the trend, included a copy of all the cards in the game in the box, and released expansion discs tucked in with a box of cards for use with the game - instead they chose to combine the high initial cost of a videogame with the money-sink of a TCG, and put it on an expensive system.

It annoys me, because there's so much they could have done right with this; instead they went the "cash out" route and created a rip-off of a product.

It's probably the most esoteric game ever made. You really have to like both video games, and table top games.

The initial price is actually quite cheap if you consider your getting a PSeye with it. But I agree your basically being charged at every turn. I guess they have to charge a lot, from their few customers.

Not only is it esoteric, but it seems like there was no thought put into how to use each medium's strengths to counteract the weakness of the other medium. Instead, they've combined the costs of TCGs with the costs of videogames, while stripping out the "no assembly required, no need to buy other stuff" aspect of a videogame, and the portability aspect of a TCG.

I have almost no pity for the inevitable failure that Eye of Judgement is likely to become. It could have been something really cool, instead it's another "shoulda been".

Not to mention that potential buyers have to own a ps3 in the first hand. I'm starting to think that EOJ is more of a tech demo for what the PSeye is capable of, rather than a game that they actually expect people to buy. Their target audience is laughably tiny, and the few people who might be interested in it are being charged absurd amounts. I guess that answers why it isn't hyped.

So, if someone were to turn on an extra light in the room while the game is being played, and it shines a glare across the cards; does it kill the game? What if the cam gets knocked over? Is everything lost? Phail by Sony.

Looks cool. It might even make lems jealous...if they add some type of card character /w a gun or whatever they call em. I won't buy it since I'm not into card games too much...and it's probably gonna cost like 120 bucks. It'll score like a 6.5-7.0 because the critics won't be able to figure out how to work it in time for the review.

Hm. Its a pity Nintendo hasn't done this with Poke'mon.

I hope they bring in the Magic series for the next eye of judgement game (if there is one).
