In a 1up article published on 5/24/2006.... SquareEnix, as a company, decided that they are going to make FF7 a 20 year franchise. I ask this to you.. why after only 10 years would they release the supposed "remake" of the game if it has only been 10 years? Do we all remember the E3 2005 Tech Demo? That video was used in FF7: CC for the PSP, it in no way was for a remake. Granted yes if tomorrow they make an announcement of a remake I will eat my words and jump for joy because of it. Again though it doesn't fit well with the whole 20 year franchise that they are envisioning imo. After that fans wouldn't want spinoffs detailing every part of the FF7 universe, there would be no game to crave for. It just doesn't make sense that they would release it now with all the information still to be known. FF7 a 20 year franchise
To be honest, I kind of wish they make the remake on the generation after this one. PS3 and X360 are already kind of showing their age (compared to PC) It's just too late, next gen consoles are probably coming in 2010 at the latest, it should be on those.
CPU and Video Card technology has come so freaking far compared to 2005/2006, I know the next gen consoles are going to be a bigger jump forward than Xbox to Xbox 360, etc.

Most underappreciated story of all Final Fantasy games
Mainly because the word 'whoreson' is used with great effect.
A remake of FFIIV however would mean neverending streams of rabid fans hyping the game to the point of starting a religion and then only to cry about the game and claim its ruined the series because playing it didnt double the size of there wang. FFVII could be remade as a masterpiece but the slightest flaw would result in a torrent of internet rage that would be beyond irritating.
