Diablo 3

The teaser site is already live.Gamescon announcement incoming, or is it going to be announced separately, on its own?

Also, The Dark Below wasn't the Diablo III expansion after all. What was it? GAF speculates it might be the name of the next (and likely final) World of Warcraft expansion.

Dark Below is all but confirmed to be the next WoW expansion, and no, it won't be the last. Anyone playing for more than a day could tell you they're setting up Sargeras as the last expansion. Dark Below implies Azshara, IE underwater or beneath the earth expansion.

Dark Below isn't the next WoW expansion since it's suppose to be about the Burning Legion coming back, having it named Dark Below wouldn't fit the theme for it.

My guess it's probably the offical name for Titan or w/e their next MMO is called.

One of the bosses in WoW is Ozumat servant of the Dark Below so it is going to be a WoW expansion

Really sceptical of this and anything Blizzard will make because of how awful Diablo 3 was at launch.

Perhaps if this doesn't have AO-DRM and real money auction house I will consider buying.

How "original".

But hey, D3 was awesome. I'll certainly get the expansion.

So 'The Dark Below' is a WoW expansion?

I really hope not. I loved Mists of Pandaria and the lighter themes of the expansion, I really don't think a cartoony game like WoW suits a dark and gritty expansion.

The Dark Below implies a place, or a new continent, not necessarily the tone.

If it is a place, doesn't it suggest that, by default, it will have a dark tone of some sort?

It most probably refer to the realm of Queen Ashara, the former queen of the Elves. She and her kin (the highborne) were twisted by abuse of magic. When they and their demonic ally were defeated, their city sunk into the deep along with their twisted forms.

Now I can't relate darkness, pure, evil, satanic darkness with undersea darkness. I just couldn't.

Wowpedia: The dark below is a place inhabited by demons, devils, and infernal creatures.

Looks like it could be a Burning Legion expansion for WoW. Would be awesome.

I'm guessing the WoW underworld - caves, caverns, tunnels, underground cities - aka more Dwarves, Dark Elves and ....wait for it.... wait for it.... Goblins.

ImBatman-

Oh yeah, I forgot about that "dark below." Some people speculate that the Dark below contains demons who are not aligned with the legion as it is unknown exactly what relationship it has with the twisting nether if there is any at all. It may also be another name for the twisting nether itself.

WoW is too far gone at this point to be worth playing again

Torchlight 2 is a better game than Diablo 3, and Path of Exile is the best in the genre

Meh to this news from Blizzard. Bring on a new MMO that fixes every mistake made between The Burning Crusade and Mists of Pandaria.

No, Pay To Win implies you are paying to become more powerful in order to beat them. There is no 'beating' them in Diablo. The game revolves around co-operation so if anything, it improves the entire group. Buying items with real money has always been common place in Diablo games, only difference is it's integrated into the game now which drastically reduces any risk of being scammed.

Also, mechanically it's the same as any other Diablo game, which were highly praised. So this means you think it's a bad game because you don't like dungeon crawlers/Diablo games.

Mechanically it is completely opposite from EVERY other action RPG out there. The combat mechanics, hit mechanics are designed from an MMO perspective. There is no dodgeing or juking out of dmg , only gearing up over it. (herp derp I wonder why RMAH and this were put in tandem). D3, As soon as an attack animation starts playing, the game has at that point decided whether the attack has landed, missed, resisted etc. Now it doesnt matter how far away you move, how you dodged , you could be halfway across the screen when the sword swipe or what have you swings over the place your body was and the hit will register. Now for a dumbass or a blizzard fanboy, i'm sure that complete butchery of the ACTION part of the RPG makes sense, but here on planet earth in the mind of a real gamer, that's an obvious push to get more RMAH revenue. Enjoy your expansion. Gamers like you are made for shit games like that =)

As for the pay to win. There is nothing more futile than trying to inform the willfully ignorant. So continue to believe whatever you want.

The P2W arguement is fair enough, but I wouldnt call it a mechanically a bad game.

The game's biggest problem for me is the itemization, but the actual combat mechanics are good and since I dont mind being unpopular, I will also state that the game's character build system (passive and active skills) is far more interesting than Path of Exile's convoluted but still woefully shallow skill puddle.

The Itemization in a game like this however, can very easily be a game breaker and unfortunately it was what made me lose interest in the game anyway, but the game's overall mechanics were good, but the itemizaiton was a killing blow.

You didn't play alot of Diablo 2 did you? If you did you'd understand the small nuances of having an auction house and not having a auction house in a Diablo game. Diablo 2 was as much a hack n slash game as it was a legit/shady trading and business game. You could either start at the bottom grinding some gear, trade that gear with some fool making a sweet deal. Then getting hustled by someone for worse gear etc etc. You had to stay on top on 'if this item had more value than that item' etc etc. My friend was such a good trader he had alot of the best items and runes. If you didn't like or didn't have the time for the trading game you could buy gear from shady internet sites. Oh and that 'reduced scamming' argument. It was a risk you had to take. If you go by that logic every human could be strapped to a chair in the middle of a safe room getting force fed exactly the right amount of food for optimal survival. Then earth would have no wars, no crime and no scamming. Everyone would be perfectly safe. A little excessive but I hope you get my point.

With that logic there is no such thing as winning a game. Pay to win game, AND it's mechanically a bad game. lol

How is Path of Exile skill tree shallow? It has a freaking skill...forest. Also, please explain why Diablo 3 has better mechanics than Path of Exile.

The only thing worth-looking forward to is the the CGI cinematics.

The POE tree is shallow, you have to take 90% path nodes for the few nodes u actually need. Only a handful of proven builds actually work at end game. At this point it seems like a cookie cutter build game, feel free to try your own builds only to hit the wall in merc, either by gear or not enough life/armor nodes. Melee in POE sucks compared to Ranged because they are exactly the same, melee gets no damage reduction, same as ranged, yet has to fight close up. POE could be great but is a hell of a ways off right now, oh and the gear drops suck just as bad as d3'd. game is totally dependent on trading and grouping once u hit merc. I have a level 70 and a few 60's, I had more fun farming in d3, and we all know d3's drops were shit. Poe dosent have a excuse for the shit drops, no AH, they are just shit. I think GGG thinks they can keep people longer this way, dont think so. LOl at developers making loot based games that dont drop any worth while loot.

But why are people praising it everywhere? I see animosity towards Diablo 3 and praise for Path of Exile on almost every gaming site/forum I visit.

Because it reminds them of Diablo 2. I personally don't like it. Gave it a try but it felt way too slow and heavy IMO. I'm not going to say it was bad because I obviously don't know shit about the game further than what I played, but I can say that I (really) do not like it.
