Hot off the presses! What do you think, SW?
It honestly looks soulless as ****.
Like one of those fan "next gen" ENB videos.
Even from the screenshots it looked off. Yes, realistic but weirdly sterile.
I guess it looks ok, but not really excited as I played it already and will not buy.
You played the Remake already?!

har har
Played the original quite a few years ago
Initial release date:November 17, 2004
Maybe a topic we can discuss when we relaunch the Pedal to Medal Podcast? You can be one of our first guest!?
@TheEroica Solid is down for some heart racing, full throttle P2M podcast action...awww yeahhh
Can I get a HELL YEAL Solid???

I noticed that too. I keep thinking: where are the cutscenes? The dialogue? Anything that indicates that this is a AAA project or remake of one? It's hard to believe that they'll showcase something like this with so little context.
This is like when Spike Lee made Old Boy. But with more cancer.
It's exactly the same. Though different.
I actually think it's promising.
Maybe not for MGS3 itself, I'd guess MGS fans too will have some attachment to original that makes them a harder audience given their longstanding attachments.
I personally see this a positive development for me because I am having some concerns whether UE5 on consoles wasn't shaping up as expected.
Whether this makes me feel good about how UE5 is coming along on console quality, well, yes, I expected better somewhat as far as the potential it was said to offer, but remember, this is Konami. A publisher who practically threw in the towel on gaming years back. Can't wait to see what can be achieved in the hands of more competent and exceptional developers.
I guess it looks ok, but not really excited as I played it already and will not buy.

lol, I’m more of a behind the scenes guy. I nominate Hardy for the podcast.
UE5 is great, the visuals look amazing, and soulless?? Look at the crocodile, the snake and the bird. This looks fantastic.
@navyguy21:
I remember thinking he looked goofy at the start of MGS3 as well lol. Turns out a bandanna and an eye patch go a long way towards the look.
This is just in engine footage anyway so hopefully when they show an actual gameplay trailer it’ll look like it has some “soul” and be representative of what MGS3 was.
Looks great! If this works out well, I'm hoping they eventually get around to remakes of:
Metal Gear 1 and 2 (MSX games)
Remakes of these games have been long overdue! We still need to experience the Solid Snake vs Big Boss showdown in full 3D. Although it would have to be more of a reimagining to adapt in 3D and fit with later story changes Kojima made after MGS... That might require bringing back Kojima.
@uninspiredcup: I'm just happy we have a fully 2023 (2024) remade Metal Gear game.
But I agree with you and others. It looks bland, generic, soulless...
Its because of UE5.
This is why Decima, Northlight, Asobo's engine, GoW engine, Rage Engine 8 etc are better than UE5.
Layers of Fear and Lord of the Fallen do look phenomenal though and finally have high res textures that have depth and geometry to them. instead of being flat like many "graphics kings"
LFG!!! GOTY 2024 WOOOOOOOO
they should have remake original MGS1. this one looks more remaster. hope they proven me wrong.
we never get proper solid snake MGS since. like long time.
Not sure one this. Unreal Engine 5 always looks cheap.
TBH yeah it kinda does not sure why though
I think the Decima engine would fit this game better.....but sadly that's exclusive to Sony
I'm surprised that Konami didn't use the Fox Engine for the remake. I wonder why?
@AcidTango: Fox Engine is ancient my bro. used for MGS5 that was meant to run on PS3/X360. Even a baseline PS4 from 2013 could run it 1080p/60.
They would have to build a new Engine (Snake Engine? Hound Engine? Boss Engine?)
or just something like Decima (not possible) so UE5 it is.

There was a remake of MGS 1, Twin Snakes for GameCube. I have it!
@SolidGame_basic: Solid can we please stop saying this BS?
2003 is 20 years ago. It could have been remade another 2 times in that time frame if you look at games like TLOU, Dead Space, Demon's Souls etc.
We need a Twin Snakes 2024 remake.
@Mozelleple112:
Yeah I just found out that Konami dropped support for the engine since 2020 which I will admit I didn't know about that. Still the Fox Engine was way underused by Konami and besides Metal Gear Solid 5 and that garbage Survive, the only other titles that used it were their Pro Evolution games.
@AcidTango: If Kojima and Konami didn't beef we might have got MGS6 in 2019 and something like Silent Hill 2 in 2022 or so.
So yeah, its just been rotting away.
What was the pachinko game using, Fox Engine? That looks better. Had the upgraded visuals and looks artistically in line with the OG game.
Grant you this is all gameplay (which is a good thing) but even at that, hollow.
@uninspiredcup: The pachinko game was pre-rendered CGI.
I think you're confused. This, as in, this trailer.
Just checked, was using Fox Engine.
@uninspiredcup: Then what did you mean by this?
What was the pachinko game using, Fox Engine?
What was the game using. Fox Engine?
Not sure what you're trying to argue here, we appear to have our wires crossed.
The basic point, or jist, was that the pachinko looks better, be engine or art-style, it looks how I'd want an updated game to look.
This looks like what the CGI Loin King was to the 1994 Loin King.
Happily be wrong with more footage but thus far, eh.
EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
LFG!!! GOTY 2024 WOOOOOOOO
Snake doesn't look good, it's pre-alpha. I don't think it's coming in 2024 imo.
The performance in Death Stranding is insane. High framerate 4K with all settings on high/maximum on my i5-12600K and AMD 6800. Different engine from Metal Gear Solid V, but probably similar design. Meanwhile, new Unreal games don't run half that well. The performance in this game will be poor. I heard they still have the engine, but no longer have the people who can work it.
Yeah, looks soulless. I'm always against using hyperrealism in decades old level design with far simpler geometry.
