To me there have been some fresh ideas this gen, but nothings really gotten me like

Osmos, an interesting indie puzzle game where you have to absorb all the other cells in order to survive.

Mirrors edge

Though it has it's flaws I found mirrors edge to be a breath of fresh air to the FPS genre. Good, weak on the story but has provided me with hours and hours of entertainment.

no words, just good peaceful fun.

What about you guys, what do you view as fresh and interesting this gen to you?

Something Freash?

as in New?

I can't really think of anything right now.

Maybe Flower, Maybe Lost Winds, Maybe World of Goo.

It doesn't have to be new. Maybe an old game with a revamped style or what not

Silent Hill Shattered Memories comes to mind. I can't think of a horror game like it, let alone a Silent Hill game like it.

Recently, Limbo. I like how it spurred so much theories about what the story was about. Very interesting game. Left 4 Dead was a co-op romp. The first time you even play through a campaign with your friends, and you don't know where to go is exciting, espeacially if you encounter a Tank, Heavy Rain was nice too. So many little details, that affect the entire outcome of the game.

Oblivion since I hadn't experienced such an expansive open world game before, yet alone an RPG like it. Recently? Probably Audiosurf.

Hmm, well I enjoyed fl0w but you covered that angle with osmos, they're pretty similar. Recently been playing Galciv 2, which is fresh to me...was getting bored of civ4, but i'd never tried a space strat game before. In many ways, it's very surprisingly better than civ4. The Monkey Island remakes felt fresh, even though they're old - games don't make you genuinely laugh enough ....I realised this playing through them again.

I thought some game called "56 Outta Here" was announced or something. Confusing title. :P Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes for me (the DS version). I don't play many puzzle games, but this one grabbed, very addicting, seemed unique. If you're getting sick of the mainstream games, it is definitely worth checking out.

World of Goo by a huge margin, i love that game, so unique and fresh, and yet so fun to play.

Puzzle Quest, Plants vs Zombie, small games, but with a lot of creativity.

How can i forget Patapon, one of the few games i would buy a PSP for.

Also, Bayonetta was unique in the sense that it's too unconventional.

Patapon, but I'm so bad at the game. Also Mirrors Edge cause it was very unique but wasn't like Fl0w or something where it blurs being a game or not.

Little Big Planet is adorable and is the best creative game. So much fun as you play and try out other peoples levels.

Dead Space is like the 'resident evil' of this gen since resident evil 5went all action packed on us (some pc horror games are the best in this genre though).I mean theres an animated movie and comics going with the game so EA are really pushing it out with this one.

Assassains Creed 1,2 not only looks great but it feels like your there!

Mirrors Edge is so cool and the music is great for it too.

Flower is great.

Demon's Souls, I died so many times in that game, rage quitted at least 4 times but kept trying and finished my first playthrough completely satisfied, the dark atmosphere sucks you in and some of the boss fights are unforgettable

I loved Master of Orion 1 & 2 so much (space strategy/empire games), but I've never found another one that satisfies me. MOO3 was alright, but I never liked it enough to actually finish a match. I would usually stop playing for a few days, which turned into a couple of weeks, by which point I forgot what I was doing in my Empire and would completely lose interest.

I actually think that Zelda will be something pretty different and interesting but it will probably hold on to much of the old.
