It's that time of year again as The Golden Joystick Awards gear up to host their 2024 live event and a slew of our favourite games are leading the nominations.

2023 was largely seen as one of the industry's most competitive years, with games like Baldur's Gate 3, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Hi-Fi Rush, Dave The Driver, Street Fighter 6 and Starfield delighting players all over the world.

This year Astro Bot and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are the crème de la crème with five nominations each, with Helldivers 2 earning four, and the roguelike poker deck builder Balatro earning three.

The 2024 awards sees some changes to the categories too, with new indie-themed ones being added as well as replacing Best Audio with two new awards: Best Soundtrack and Best Audio Design. And, the Still Playing Award has been divided into separate Mobile and Console & PC categories.

The world’s biggest public-voted games awards, the Golden Joystick Awards, returns for its 42nd year on 21st November, 2024 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, London

The Golden Joystick Awards are held in special regard because they are voted for by the people who buy and play games. Every year, millions of fans show their support for their favourite games, developers, publishers and personalities of the last 12 months!

I am also a thread manticore.

Never played Wukong (I would probably die 5000 times in the first 5 minutes). But Rebirth was pretty good. Though I thought 16 was better.

@Archangel3371: They are doing a really good job with the story in these games. I didn't expect to get drawn in so much and care, especially with how campy some of it can be. The camp doesn't reach Yakuza levels, but the main story and main characters are really good! Can't wait for the third game.

@girlusocrazy: Yeah, they’ve been doing an absolutely fantastic job with this remake of one of my all time favourite games. I honestly couldn’t ask for more really. Definitely can’t wait to see how they do the third part.

ultimate game of the year wukong! wow, surprising choice, but 100% deserved.

i'm not a ff guy, 16 was the first one i properly tried, but i did actually really quite like it. do you need to have played the other ff7 remakes to play rebirth? it's just got a huge discount on amazon today and i'm tempted to pull the trigger
