That's flawed thinking and you know for a fact it is. The only reason you use it is because you probably didn't think MGS4 deserved game of the year.
The simple FACT is almost everything we purchase is based on other people whether it be friends, acquaintances, people on TV or people giving reviews online. People who don't do research and talk to others about products, especially expensive products, tend to get buyer's remorse a lot.
If I believed like you believed I would have bought Haze and wasted 60 bucks of my money, but everyone was saying it sucked so I rented it and indeed, it sucked.
Its not flawed thinking, just opinion.Lots of people used to have the opinion that the world was flat and if they sailed to the horizon they'd fall off into space.
That was flawed thinking too.
To be an informed consumer, especially on expensive purposes, means you won't have as much buyer's remorse and will thus save money. That is a good thing. In order to be that consumer you must get as much information and as many opinions as possible in order to form your own educated opinion.
This is something consumer advocates like Ralph Nader have been trying to grill into people's heads for ages yet many do not listen and the "impulse buy" continues to put people into the poor house and rack up horrible credit card debts.
