Date on the pic says 2005. You'd think if they were that far along in developing it we'd have seen more by now. I guess they want to make sure the game sucks as bad as the first two before they release anymore stuff about it.

That was a Tech demo from last year that they showed at GDC.They had one block with no control or game mechanics plus they only tilted the camera around they didn't even move through the scene. Expect a major downgrade

Isn't there a tech demo using the "edge" tools that looks strikingly like Getaway?

^^^ shows it in real time. This is the Playstation Edge footage shown at GDC 07- it looks pretty good, seeing as the quality isn't the greatest.

of course, GC its computer generated or computer graphics, meaning it is not produced in real time, that means that its was pre made, CG is stuff like the movies finding nemo or toy story, real time is when it is actually running on the game engine so if the getaway trailer was cg it means when the actual game comes out it will most likely nopt look anyware near as good as those screenshots
