Perhaps you haven't visited any Fallout 3 forums in the last few years.
It looks like just about every fan of the Fallout series is totally pissed off at what Bethesda is doing to the series - hell, Bethesda had to shut down their original Fallout board because of the constant abuse.

Best game ever? I highly doubt it, purely for the fact that it would have to be better than: Ocarina of Time, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario Bros 3 and Big Rigs. And I just dont see that happening. Though it is one of the biggest contenders for game of the year. The fact that Reggie said its the real sequel to SM64 (aka, way better than Sunshine) pretty much assures us that the game is going to be awesome.
