The hype for UC2 graphics... not deserved?

I look at UC2 it looks good but when you compare it to even RE5 you see they are very alike. Uc2 has a slight cartoony look and artwork can make a game look really good with decent tech behind it. To me RE5 beats UC2 at: Texures(look at the ground in the UC2 vid even on some of the buildings), amount going on on-screen. UC2 beats RE5 at: A.I(correct me if you feel this is wrong but there "infected" so they are bound to be brainless.), and draw distance? Everything else I did not mention, I think they are even.

Uncharted 2 has tons more clutter in the enviroment, better lighting, high resolution textures, and from what I can see just more details with the special effects.

I see a lot of lemmings talking about RE 5 lately. Is that the new graphics King for 360? What about Gears 2? I've played The 360 and PS3 version of RE5 and neither even comes close to KZ2, so obviously it doesn't look better then UC1 let alone UC2.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (judging from my beta) is about on par with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

i think its fully deserved from what i've seen. the beta is AT LEAST on par with RE5, so the full game should definately be better looking.

It will probably be the best looking console game. On the other hand, the game in general seems to have been getting over-hyped. For example, hyping it to be GOTY? Well, it's a sequel to an 8.0 game in the same generation, so I doubt it. It's not like it will be that different.

Both Uncharted games are graphically superior to 90 percent of what's out there.

No, it's definetely deserved. I'm playing the beta right now and it's really, really impressive. Especially the animations, melee moves are so fluid and jumping over ledges and stuff just looks so realistic. The draw distance is also insane.

first of all remember that U2 has not been released yet so makes no sense comparing it... secondly RE5 while have great visuals is not on the same level as U2.. I just spent some time on the beta and apart from being a blast & lots of fun, it is visually impressive..

U2's beta is like playing Geow2 online, but faster-paced and the cover system is also better... add to that climbing on to ledges, buildings, walls etc for extra cover / better shooting zones and you have one hell of a great online :P

As one of the few people here who's actually played Uncharted 2. I'll say that I have not seen a better looking game on a console.

The game looks great and is a huge improvement on the previous Uncharted. The hype is well deserved.

Yeah but I said in the same generation. I doubt the improvements will be as drastic as going from MGS3 to MGS4.

by the fottage iv seen unharted is console graphic king......But u no wat the funny thing is? its not even done yet...they have months of polishing to do. res 5 is only good for charater models. in uncharted 2 when u go into water that part of your body acually gets wet. which game does that? nd even if they do i doubt they do it better then uncharted. hell even uncharteed 1 is close to res 5 let alone U2. wait till the game is finished then play the game if u have a ps3 which i doubt beczuae only 360 fan would try to compare U2 to res 5. so play it, nd enjoy the lush envirnments U2 has to offer. look at the lightin, textures and all that. o and i recomend you take off your fanboy goggles off because its been said the game will blind you if u hav that on........u wanna compare uncharted atleast compare it to the current console graphic king (killzone):roll:

let's wait and see people, honestly kids and their graphics. uc2 looks good on its own merits so either way it doesn't need to be the graphics king

The textures look impressive, that's pretty fair to say. I think that it's not so much the graphics that really gets people to hype this game. It's really more a combination of the VERY fluid animations (of both Drake and the enemies), the physics, and just the shear amount off stuff that goes on at the same time as a person is playing. Along with the cinematic/action pack parts mixed in the gameplay, this is probably what is getting people to hype this game up more than anything. Graphics look great and detailed, but people aren't just hyping this game for that reason alone. They are just probably using the term graphics to represent what I just decribed. Looking at just screenshots definitely doesn't do this game justice at all.

I gotta say, I don't understand the love for RE5's graphics. It doesn't even look top 5 to me.

The Uncharted 2 beta looks better than RE 5 or is at least on par with it. I've played through RE 5 four times and have only put a couple of hours into the U 2 beta.Floppy_Jim
