People seem to like to trump up its lacking library as one of the main reasons why its failing.. Yet seem to completely avoid another key thing..

Lets take look at the3ds, it released with a $250 price tag and even than it was widely seen as bad until the price drop.. Even for the people who paid the $250 they got a dozen free games.. Even then you were able to play games right out of its package..

Now we have the PS vita which is of course more powerful but with one of the worse business policies I have ever seen.. For that $250 it doesn't even ship with a memory chip, so you can not actually use the majority of its functions let alone play games more or less until you get a memory card.. To add more injury to insult Sony in their greed decided to create their own unique memory chip which has effectively allowed them to over price their chips.. When a SD card is signifcantly cheaper than the Vita specific chip! So if your wanting to download any large amount of games on the chip we are looking at spending upwards to $50 or more! When a Sd chip half that price can store as much as the the PS vita chips..

This is absolute FAIL based upon console that is largely based around direct download services.. Than we have the inexcusable lack of features that should have released that existed on the older PSP's such as being able to play PSone classics at release..

In the end of the day I don't understand why no one has brought up this huge flaw, that one really isn't paying $250.. One really is paying any where between $270 or if you wanta chip with a decent size anywhere upwards to $320.. All for a system that at this time not only has a lacking library but more specifically doesn't have features that the old PSP has had for years, such as play PSone classics..

It's got the best launch library of any system release. I think it's biggest flaw is that, no matter how much jelly it causes in those who don't have it...there's always room for more.

Well the system just came out so give it time for games to come out, it really has some nice looking and fun games on it right now, it does need more upcoming games though because talking about myself after beating Uncharted, i just cant seem to find anything else to play.. i have escape plan but that game got boring on me very fast.

there is Gravity Rush and Resistance in the upcoming months

I actually would love to get one but I just can't justify spending that kind of cost when it can't even play PSone games at this time or rips people off by forcing users to use overpriced Sony SD card.

Vita is a fine machine, just needs some killer apps (I swear I must have said this 100 times now). When it gets those games, I will be interested. Almost got it at launch.

Yea, the PS Vita also has the flaw of being easy to port 360/PS3 games too, like the PSP did with the PS2. Thus, with the low sales it becomes increasingly stupid for developers to make unique, exclusive content for the Vita since it is far more cost effecient to port a bunch of HD Twin games to it. It also suffers from not really having any real third party support yet, but that may change later in the year. Yea, the minimum price of a Vita is higher than most think, it's $270 at best without a game.

I agree. Good launch lineup doesn't mean it's worth buying at launch, it just means it sucks less than usual launches.

I bought PSvita at the limited edition bundle launch. Feb 15th Which included a 4GB memory card. I agree that Sony should have at least included at Memory card with every PSvita. Even better Sony should have just made PSvita compatible with Memory Stick duo/Memory stick pro duo/Memory stick micro.

As much as I enjoy PSvita I bought 7 retail games thus far. The only downloadable game I have is the Free Motorstorm RC. So my tiny 4GB PSvita memory card has 638 used up out of 4GB.

Even I must say Sony messed up with the PSvita memory cards.

I didn't like the quantity I got more games on psp. But ninja gaiden was a fav on original xbox. Glad I'm getting to enjoy it on vita. Also psp didn't get a major 1st party title like vita got uncharted.

Reaching much? I got my Vita for 249.99 including a 4gb memory card which is fine for all my saves since I buy physical copies only. Amazon was giving away FREE 4gb cards up until launch btw wtih a purchase of a Vita. 3DS needs a memory card, 360 needs a HDD etc etc, you act like this is something new and its not. Just deal with it and stop being so mad that you cant afford a Vita.

Also the lack of PSONE classics is completely understandable. Do I wish it came with it on launch? Of course, but it wasnt ready (which Sony admits, and they are working on to release ASAP), just like how the Nintendo store and netflix etc wasnt availbile on 3DS or half the features that you find on XBL or PSN right now. Did you think the smarter business decision was to DELAY a handheld because the PS ONE classics werent reaady? Are you serious? LOL.

The 250$ is already the price drop. They're selling the Vita at a loss... it's a hell of a lot more advance than the 3DS. Like someone said above... it just needs some killer apps........ if the Vita had android and was able to play phone games... it would sell better.. but the main problem right now is that there's not reason to get it. They haven't done anything to make it worth getting.

If anything the 3DS at 250$ was too expensive for that machine :s

That's nice for the people who preordered from Amazon, but the vast majority of Vita buyers around the world are most likely going to have to buy themselves a card.

3DS needs a memory card, 360 needs a HDD etc etc, you act like this is something new and its not.SRTtoZ

The 3DS came with a memory card, and even the default 360 has a small internal harddrive, so your examples don't really work.

Besides, both of those systems can use any cheap SD card/HD that money can buy. The Vita can only use Sony's, and theirs is overpriced (and most likely won't drop in price).

It needs more games that aren't multiplats of console games.

The 3DS suffered through this initially but it's started to get it's own original stuff. The price is still going to hurt Sony, no one is going to buy that thing for $249

They have their own memory cards for security reasons due to patches and games being installed to the card but the Vita was cracked open anyway "I think".

Wish they just shipped it with installed memory or at least a free card to start people off.

Your english hurts my eyes o.O lol. Anyway, the Playstation VITA (not PSP Vita as you titled it) is a great system. Does it suck that they decided to make those proprietary Vita card? Yeah it does. But that's not a reason to dismiss an entire console. Like someone else said on here Microsoft did that and look how well the Xbox has done. For being a Handheld console the Vita has a very good future IMO. Great graphics, good games, great hardware and if they ever get that cross platform play working (playing ps3 games on the vita) then it'll be awesome

Because it is stupid and ever business that is run in any slightly competent fashion sells all products at a profit, even if small. It doesn't create jobs because no money is coming in from the hardware, and it makes the impact on poor selling IPs even more severe. If X game is new and original, but it sells very little and doesn't recoup it's costs it isn't likely to get a sequel, but with the straight profit Sony would get from selling the Vita at a profit per unit they could afford to throw money into a sequel to an underselling, deserving IP if they decided to because the hardware profits can offset the software losses sometimes. It is a horrible, bassackwards business practice to sell any product at a loss, especially one at such a large loss. Sony is thinking they can reap software profits like they did during PS1, PS2 but that was only because they were the best selling devices. The PS3 recovered a bit but they still take huge losses each year and the PS Vita will not be able to offset the lack of hardware profit because software sales will be very low since the system is likely to sell a measly 4-6 million units during 2012, unless something dramatic happens.

I'm really hoping for a redesign. I want: -Larger analog sticks with more throw, but preferably protrude less so I can fit the damn thing in my pocket -Better analog stick placement. Right now they're too close to d-pad down/X button. -Smaller overall size. Going along with the sticks protruding too far is the size. The thing is too damned large to fit in my pocket. -Better shoulder buttons. The stock ones are too mushy in my book. -Better battery life If I get that+a price drop I'll be a happy Vita owner. If not, I can wait.

If the only flaw is cost, that's something that is easily rectified. Plus it hasn't doomed the 360 when you have to pay for an XBL subscription to use a good portion of the apps + online play. All in all, it'll manage. The two things it needs to really start gaining traction are some quality exclusive games and a $50 price cut. Give it 12 to 24 months and it'll be performing just fine (for its standards, still haven't seen anybody touch Nintendo when it comes to the handheld market).

It's awesome, Sony is profiting off the memory cards, and more great games will come, albeit intermittently. Shush haters.
