Considering Guerilla/Sony has put something like $50 million into this game, I expect it will be better than most bad game franchises.Dreams-Visions
In other words, games that had a pretty interesting principle and some intriguing possibilities but then fell flat on their face. And unfortunately these games all had sequels, kinda like Killzone. But as we learned...sequels to original games that flopped that had promise doesn't mean that the franchise will be successful the second time around.

...but we also know that just because a prior game sucked, doesn't mean the sequel will.
People are hyped for Killzone 2 based on the gameplay footage, not based on the Killzone brand name.

I hope KillZone 2 won't follow the same path... successful in sales... but fall short on other things like gameplay... I hope KillZone 2 is a Win Win :D

That's the one thing xbox360 fanboys don't want to admit, and its the main reason for damage control threads like this.
Here's a better question: why are xbox360 fans so worried about killzone 2's status, presteege and hype, saying it's a trash franchise, when they turn right around and hype a trash sequel like Fable 2 (the first game was 7 hrs long and the sequel is said to be a wopping 8 ) and the worse gameplay mechanics I've seen in a game in years Too Human to no limit?

Um, it's true, people shouldn't hype it (I don't really see it hyped here as much as other games, if at all lately), you forgot one key point about this "FRANCHISE"...
...It took a good step with the sequel Killzone Liberation, also developed by Guerilla. Sure, it isn't the same type of game, but the FRANCHISE did take a turn for the GOOD, unlike BLINX, Getaway, etc.

Uh...Spiderman 3 was very successful, exactly what any movie company wants. Your original point fails, as Spidey 3 was a good film, It may not have bested the original, but it wasn't a failure.
Who gives a damn what the company wants? :? I, as a fan, felt that the Spidey 3 was a huge disappointment and I'm sure others do as well.Uh...Spiderman 3 was very successful, exactly what any movie company wants. Killzone = 6.9
fable = 8.6
At least try to create a good question, so i'd have more challenge answering it.
You know, Killzone wasn't all that bad. :? I wonder if people on these boards even know the development of Killzone 1 and how Guirrilla(sp?) struggled.

apparently the game was good, it was graphically great and the gameplay was nice, but it was buggy. Something about Guirrilla not knowing the ps2 well having developed for the PC.
the psp one was great though and the gameplay vidoes of this do look nice.

It was pretty buggy, the main flaw with the central gameplay was that hit detection was rather off at times (you know, like snipers in CoD4 :|) making anyone sniping in MP useless :P
