Hey Dreams do you smell that? Its very familiar if you know what I mean. Just look carefully through the posts in the thread. It will begin to add up to you. Beliveve me you can't miss it as always it tends to never be disguised and made so obvious.
[QUOTE="sakura_Ex"]I hope when Capcom decides to make SF5, that it uses HD 2D sprites like KoFXII does.Blackbond
Then on to CvS3!!!
Let's see...
CvS was beautiful
CvS2 was drop dead gorgues
CvS3 would be the next best thing since 50 hot naked women sliciing bread. :|

A big complaint about CvS2 was that it looked very outdated. Comparing it to SFIII and the fact that some of the sprites on characters were straight low res recycles it was far from beautiful even for its time.
game looks awesome. just kinda wondering why people are gonna import. i didnt even see a japanese release date. at least they confirmed that its coming out in the states eventually for ps3 and 360. online play too, sweettikki25xwhen did they confirm a US release? we've been talking about import because we didn't see that info.
Beautiful. I wonder why Capcom won't go the lengths to make an HD 2D sprite fighter.
But I still don't mind. It's about balance and depth not 2D and 3D.

I feel you, but I like the new 3D style for SF. It has really grown on me and it's absolutely gorgeous. Plus there are effects and neat camera positions that can only be done with the new 3D style. And it also looks close to 2D to top it off.
The gameplay is what matters and it's still a 2D fighter underneath :).
Excellent. It's about time we get a REAL 2D fighter with HD sprites.BenthamWell, whatever floats your boat.

Some people like the artistry of the hand-drawn 2D sprites still used in the KoF series--they see it as a sign of dedication and attention to detail. But as you and I have noted, making all those cells for all those characters takes time and usually results in animation that by today's standards some would consider stuttery (I believe the KoF benchmark is for 12 frames per second of character animation).Perhaps it's for the best the two companies adopt differing philosophies--with SNK adopting the traditional approach that's not as smooth and Capcom going for the newer look--smoother motion but a departure from tradition. As I said in my last post, whatever floats your boat.
Both are employing the PC-based Taito TypeX2 for the arcade machines, so console and perhaps even PC ports (Capcom's confirmed such a move, SNK hasn't decided) are quite possible and probably likely.
SFIV should have looked like this.DireToadCapcom thought otherwise, probably from their experience in the CPS-3 era, when they did strive for smoother animation by drawing more cels. They probably thought that continuing to do so now in the HD era, where even tiny details and imperfections can be detected, would've been too demanding and--more importantly--costly. So the decision had to be made--go for larget but less fluid animation or go 3D and use the known modeling techniques to provide smooth motion and good detail at high resolutions. SNK went one way, Capcom went the other.

My girlfriend should've look liked Jessica Simpson. :|
Ewww....Wow this game looks great...
Now if only SF IV took this route, I'd be happier. :( Oh well, KoF looks great, I hope Mai is back!
