Way better than the shit they shipped. Probably wouldn't have flopped as hard with this ending. mems_1224Agreed, the game would have at least gotten a 9.0.
Awesome loved everything about it  Except didn't like Joel's character 8/10blue_hazy_basic

I think you missed the not so subtle point of my post sean :P Come on sean, you can do it.
The director asked the lady to do it as a laugh w/o telling anyone else. The actor for Joel did it spontaneously in repsonse
WTF did I just watched? Why are they singing anyway?

It's a good thing they didn't go with this ending. Tom would have flopped it even harder.
Troy did an awesome job at improvising though.

You're right, Tom has such bad taste he probably couldn't see how awesome the alternate ending is :(
The ending of The Last of Us should have been this..... they meet someone along the way that says they heard of a doctor that might be able to save Ellie with a certain procedure he knows how to do. Then they go on a search for him and find out he was killed, but find a way to find his research on how to do the procedure. They then take that research to the hospital at the end of the game and they perform the surgery and save Ellie and human kind.

Yeah, but that's such a contrived ending. The way it really ended was alot more human than just saying that everyone lived happily ever after.

The way it ended is such a selfish BS way. He should have saved humanity. Either by allowing the surgery and her dying or the way I stated above.

Yeah it was selfish. But that's the whole point, Joel made a choice to save the girl that was basically all he had left in the world. There was no gurantee that this would have worked, so Ellie could have just died for nothing.

They should have given us the option to end it how we wanted. Then have those options carry over for the next installment.
A decision-driven story for TLOU would be much more fitting.

I dunno, the game was more about Joel and Ellie than it was about the player which I thought was a good thing. In the end, it was Joel's decisions and the player was along for the ride.
Hopefully Joel and Ellie won't appear at all in the sequel :P

No one would choose to end themselves and hiumanity. She dies all humanity lives. She and he live a while until the plague gets them and all humanity dies too? No one would choose that!
OK maybe a socialpathic homicidal lunatic loser.

Which brings back the point that Joel was selfish. He didn't care what would happen to the world if he saved Ellie. Ellie was the only thing that he cared about and letting her die was obviously more painful to him than seeing the world end.
The name of the game is "The Last of Us," implying that the survivors up until this point are the last human beings who have lived or will live on Earth.

I only played through the game once, but wasn't there a diary entry/notebook stating the girl wasn't the only test subject? I thought there were others like her who they operated on and, consequently, died with nothing to show for it.
That last line defined Joel perfectly. Maybe that's why Tom gave the game an 8.Please Log In to post.
