Heres what happen to me in Resident Evil 1-3, veronica, etc

*a group of zombies are coming toward my direction*

"OH SPIT ZOMBIES!! RUN!!"

*run for safety*

Resident Evil 4

*a group of infected villagers are swarming after me*

"hey yo, bring it on"

*wait for one infected villagers to get close*

*shoot one in the leg*

*Press the action button to do a karate kick*

and boom im safe and i just clear out a swarming mob of angry villagers.

"hmm that was easy, these villager pose no threat to my safety at all"

rinse and repeat everytime you're under attack.

Resident Evil 5 is gonna be great. I don't know if it will surpass Resident Evil 4 though.

Where in RE4 did you EVER have just one enemy coming at you? Did you play the Game Boy version or something?

If we were to not enjoy games because they were easy then we would not enjoy any third person shooters.

There is a big difference between "terrible" and "not scary".

RE4 was an excellent TPS, and RE5 looks like it's going to follow suit.

Wow, so you must hate the whole series then. I never found RE games to be scary. Very, very tense, yes, but not scary. And RE4 kept the feeling of tension just fine.

I didn't think they were scary either. Atmospheric, tense, suspenseful, but not scary.

Actually since GC version (the original one) came out like 6 months before PS2 one I think it's fair too say the game got an 9.6 not an 9.3. Also on topic RE:5 will not suck, just becasue it shares the same game machinics as the last one doesn't mean it's going to fail, plus it's still freash since it's only been used once before.

what are you talking about? pre RE4 was very scary and the zombies was actually a threat and pose great danger to you. you couldnt shoot one in the leg and karate kick your way to safety. also you couldnt go rambo in past RE because ammo was very limited.

I'm sorry, what? Very scary? Hardly. It could make you jump or keep you on your toes, but there was nothing scary about it. And please... zombies NEVER were a threat. An enemy you can avoid entirely and can outrun by WALKING is not a threat. Have you actually played RE4 or just watched a video or two of it? You can't just shoot an enemy in the leg and instantly win. It doesn't work like that at all. Yes, shooting an enemy in the leg makes them vulnerable but I fail to see how something that makes sense is suddenly a bad thing. And besides, it only works on some enemies for the first hour or two of the game. After that, you want to stay as far away from the enemy as you possibly can. Not to mention ammo was also limited in RE4. Not as much as in past games, sure, but you definitely couldn't go rambo. Well you could, if you like dying.

lol what has change beside the graphical upgrade and the addition of co-op.

idk about you people but i think co-op is the worst thing they could had added to the Resident Evil series. what made RE so great in the past, is the feeling of being alone and helpless. having co-op just ruin thats.

if a game is called "Resident Evil" and it is not scary then that game is TERRIBLE. PERIOD! I do not give a damn about being politically correct. and if you disagree with me, i really dont understand your train of thought nor do i have any respect for your intelligence

I disagree with you, and I could not care less about what you think of my intelligence.

I am a huge Resident Evil fan, and I see REmake as being the best in the series, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate RE4 for what is: ie, a great third person shooter with tons of action and excellent boss fights.

The old RE is dead. Get the hell over it.

That's the point of a sequel. It's supposed to feel similar to it's predicesor, while adding new things to the formula. You could at least rent RE5 before saying it's RE4.5.

1. you could not always run past enemies.

2. do not question me if i played RE4. if anything I should be question you based some of the stuff you posted. . I play and beat RE 1, 2, 3, 4, remakes code veronica on dreamcast.

3. yes you can. let one of the enemies get close to you, shoot them in the leg to stun it, the press the action button and it will not only knock that enemy but also any surrounding enemies. AND THAT IS A FACT. HAVE YOU PLAYED RE4?????? I dont believe you did

4. did you just ammo is limited in re4? lol, HAVE YOU PLAYED RE4??? ok what ever buddy

Good job not proving me wrong there. If you can actually counter my argument, please do so.

As for your attack on my "credibility", I've played every RE game there is besides Outbreak. I've even played Survivor and Umbrella Chronicles. I know exactly what the series is like.

and it is. not as much as the predecessor, but its not Gears of War. if you don't like the direction of RE4 and RE5, that's your opinion, but it certainly doesn't make the games terrible. and as for RE4, a lot of the gaming populace, both players and journalists, would disagree with you.

"Limited" means that you have a set number that will eventually run out. Ammo can run out in RE4. And why keep calling me kiddo, I'm probably older than you are :| Actually judging by your maturity I know I'm older than you :|

Wow, really? Looks like I'll have to think twice about getting this. The A.I. in the video I saw looked like crap, so if I have to baby it the entire time, then I won't be a happy camper. And I won't be able to sit down for 10+ hours to play co-op with someone.

I'm sorry but there is no such thing as a scary RE game imo. RE4 just got the controls right. The ones before had laughable controls but you lived with it.

Some sequels actually bring something new to the table. RE4, for example.

online co-op.....

Yeah, I guess that makes Call of Duty: World At War such a distinguishable step forward.

it could have done wonders for dead-space...not that it was a bad game, but atleast it could of improved upon the game (given they would have to have tweaked the gameplay a bit)

That's not really relevant. To implement cooperative gameplay is simply keeping up with industry standards.

Yeah, I guess that makes Call of Duty: World At War such a distinguishable step forward.

it could have done wonders for dead-space...not that it was a bad game, but atleast it could of improved upon the game (given they would have to have tweaked the gameplay a bit)

really? personally, i kind of liked the sense of isolation in dead space. however, i do agree that coop adds an incentive to play. left 4 dead comes to mind for me.

hyperboy152000

exactly. i would have never played through Gears more than once if not for the coop gameplay.

Some games are scarier when alone. Especially if they are slow paced. Fast paced scary games like L4D are more effective with co-op.

To me adding Co-op to a survivor horror game is like adding puzzels to a FPS game it just dosent equal fun and takes you out of the experience. Its SURVIVOR horror not survivor(s) horror.
