Okay so its nothing new that Blu-ray won the media battle. Hurray!!! Now everyone can buy with confidence knowing full well that the disc they buy and the machine they buy will not become a Laserdisc (poor suckers who bought that). But here is where Microsoft can go with this. They can A) Make a Blu-ray add on. B) Make their system Blu-ray just like the PS3..and yes it would still play all 360 titles because Blu-ray drives can read the format...and no Microsoft would not have to switch media type for programing games because that would alienate the mass consumer who already bought one. C) Make the XBL downloads of movies for purchase instead of rentals...thus who cares about media you get same quality only on your hard drive with no disc.

In my opinion I think C would be the best choice for M$. You dont worry about shipping costs, production costs, just download and own it and play it whenever you want. Plus people would be buying the much larger hard drive (120g) instead of a player and M$ would still get their money. If they wanted to they could release a much larger hard drive for the system and then space wouldn't be an issue. The reason Blu-ray won the media war is studio support...not that it was superior to HD..same quality of 1080p and 7.1 surround. But MS has all the studio support on XBL like Disney, WB, etc. So why waste your time with buying another add-on?? Go downloads MS dont make 360 owners buy ANOTHER addon...

Your thoughts on this??

Owner of 360, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS and a semi decent PC ;)

Blu-Ray or HD-DVD quality > XBL HD movies by far.

My thoughts? That according to the moderators, 'format threads' aren't allowed, usually because it highlights the fact that Blu-Ray winning benefits the PS3 - unless the thread is a 'format thread' created for the sole reason of bashing Sony. Like this one.

I agree, right now it is. I think the highest quality is 720p. But, if they focus on it instead of the meadia the quality could be the same. The only thing media is good for is storage, and the occasional coaster if the disc is too damaged, so move the storage to the hard drive instead of the disc. On top of that it would cost the consumer less money cause you cut out the costs of shipping, mass production, and the retailer marking it up. Cheaper with same quality.
