The Metal Gear Solid 4 effect.

This week when Konami announced the simultaneous world-wide release date of one of the most anticipated titles of the year, MGS4 on 6/12/2008, the gaming community gone crazy, the hype level became unparalleled.

As a marketing campaign, Sony also announced the all new 80GB PS3 bundle which will come with a copy of the game, plus a Dual shock 3 controller, for the same price for a normal 80GB PS3.

At the same time, there is also another date for another giant, it is , Grand Theft Auto 4, on April 29th this year, Rockstar bring to us the genre defining masterpiece which probably going to break new grounds of gameplay to refine what they created for the last gen.

What does that all mean?

I think there is a connection between this two big guns, that is possibly going to be the turning point for the PS3 sales, alot of c fans of both series going to consider buying the PS3 for these two games instead of buying the 360 for GTA4 only, so what is your take on this?

Thats what I was expecting when I wrote all the good words, lol, I think GTA4 and MGS4 deserves all the love, lol.

I think you guys misunderstand him...

He is saying, for those who do not have a PS3 but would buy one for GTA4 and MGS4 but would LOVE to get the MGS4 bundle...This would mean they cannot play GTA4 until MGS4 is out or they cannot get the bundle if they want GTA4 right when it releases...

Bundle or not, I think alot of people will buy the PS3 to play both games, some will wait until the release of MGS4, some will actually buy a PS3 when GTA4 comes out, then buys MGS4 when it is released also.

No I will not buy GTA4 until the thing you know about is available for the ps3. As for mgs4, it is the reason why I bought a ps3!gamingqueen

Europe - The (GT5 P , GTA IV , MGS4) combo will reign supreme

NA - GTA IV + heavy 360 GTA marketing + advertising of future DLC + 360 pricecut should be enough to give the 360 a sales edge even over the awesome GTA IV/MGS4 combo imo.

Japan - hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

For NA, I think Sony also going to make heavy marketing for GTA4, maybe a price cut also.

I dont care for MGS so that bundle wont get me to buy PS3, but seeing as this is supposedly the last MGS game or so I heard...it probobly just means snake will be replaced by someone else...but still it gives me hope that Kojima will make Zone of the Enders 3. GTA4 I will buy (for 360)...just becouse its what i do. I havent passed any GTA since the 3rd one but its still fun to screw around in an open world.rzepak

ZOE4 is an exclusive ps3 game. Will that make you buy it?

I respectfully disagree. the 360 version of GTA4 will sell more than the PS3 version. Because GTA 4 is game with mass market appeal. MGS4 is a game more turn to a niche gamer group. I would assert that Halo as well has mass market appeal and its overlap with the people that like halo and like GTA is much higher than MGS 4 and GTA4.

Second the package though really good is too late. people are impatient and would go with the consoles they have
. They would get GTA4 with the consoles they already have meaning it is higher probability wise is going to be 360s and even then the fact the package deal is a hinderance people will be force to wait to for the special package instead of going for the PS3 then to get GTA4.

if microsoft is smart they will advertise GTA for themselfs and include mentioning the additional content probably cementing GTA4 as a 360 game of choice
