The million dollar question. 360 elite or ps3 basic?

I currently own no next-gen consoles and would like to get anything below 600 euros. The Wii is out of the picture because of its pathetic graphics so the battle is waged between Sony and Microsoft.

I know people will argue and say that the Ps3 is overpriced because of its Blu-ray and that its the cheapest one in the market, but frankly I don't care, because neither Blu-ray nor HD-DVD will replace DVD. Apart from that I have heard two other arguments:

The Sixaxis and the Linux computer.

I played PS3 at a friends house and frankly I feel the sixaxis is a toy. It feels so light that you cant feel like you're really holding a gun or driving a car. The Linux computer on the other hand is pretty cool but I'm not sure if its fully operational, with the ability to download any program which can run on it (e.g Skype, Firefox... etc)

So I'm slowly going for the 360 and was hoping you might tell me if im making the wrong choice by showing some arguments in favour of the PS3.

If you are considering an Elite and you play games online , you are better off going with the ps3 60 gig because it will be cheaper in the long run. (and you get a bonus blu-ray playback and Home to play around in)

Well I think you shouldn't dismiss the Wii on its graphics alone cuz I think Nintendo makes good games, but whatever that's not the question.

I think the reality is which system suits your gaming needs but at the same time I don't think you really care, you just want the better technological toy. In which case the PS3 > 360 cuz it's really much more than a gaming console. However, if you want better games I'd probably go with the 360.

 Quite simple really. Not enough people own HDTV's yet, and it's not as big of a step up between VCR and DVD. Plus, why buy a $1000 Blu-Ray player (or you could buy a PS3), when you've already got a perfectly fine DVD player that has every movie? The guy is right, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray won't replace DVD for a while anyway.

Blu-ray Vs 120 Gb

Well you can go and buy couple Blu-ray Videos and have loads of 1080P content

You can easily buy 4 Blu-ray movies and have that 120 Gb of content

WIth elite you're gonna have to d/l that HD content. Thats gonna be some time downloading HD media as assuming your not gonna be the only one doing so at that time, that even more time and you better not try to use you internet at that time cause thats even gonna prolong that d'l

and what are your choise on IPTV? TV shows etc lmao at that. Get the blockbuster films on blu-ray and save your band with

get 1080P with PS3

also you can upgrage your HDD with PS3 to well over 160Gb

Dont waste your money on Xbox and microsoft. PS3 has the best future. I'll tell yo next year

Yes, microsoft is a HORRIBLE company.  That is why it is having profits in its companies divisions and sony is facing losses and recalling EVERY laptop battery.  Talk about the systems, compare the systems, do not embarrass yourself by comparing the companies

I converted from a ps2 fan to an xbox fan .....but i understood the release gap in between that allowed Microsoft to come out with a better system (hardware... to each his own on games but system to system, c'mon) i was expecting the same with the xbox 360 and ps3 ..... i thought i was going to convert again and the ps side ....

but they just arent doing it ......

 2nd that PS3 has the best value out of all 3 and Im glad you ruled out the Wii.

If it runs Linux it will run firefox and most other applications, however if you are buying it for the sole purpose of Linux I suggest buying an AMD based computer in the same price range, it would be much more ideal for an operating system.
