[QUOTE="Basinboy"] Sephiroth, though he could have been assigned a better voice actor. Fenix is all show: we never delve into his emotional state or review any of his past outside of occassional mentions that it actually happened. Besides, the death of Aeris is the Mona Lisa of video games and I've got to go with delusional synthesis of Jenova and humanity over an apparently wrongly accused soldier with more cracks in his face than Clint Eastwood.

Since when do badasses show emotion?
Since games became more than mindless button pressing. IMO, Kratos is the most, for lack of a better term, "badass" character. We know why he does it, we know his motives, we empathize and pity him, yet he still possesses the hatred, avarice, and ruthlessness to carry on tormenting himself and others. He's selfish, stiffnecked, and melancholy, making him utterly "badass" in every sense. A part of him, however, was compromised in GOW2; he's a bit over the top when he yells and screams at everything who crosses his path.
Marcus, though a supposed "tough guy", has never shown a darker side to himself proving that he is emotionally avaricious and unsympathetic to anyone and everything. I consider those elements absolutely fundamental when determining the character of a character. Thus, why I believe Sephiroth is a more suitable "badass" than Marcus.
