If it realy revolutionarized gaming, why aren't we seeing more and more games like that?MonsieurXactually that's a pretty good argument that should've been used before :P revolutionary games create standards that other games will follow. like OoT and... pretty much everything in the game or GTA and the open world sandbox game styIe. NBA might be as beautiful as you say, but that isn't revolution. it's "mere" (emphasis on the air quotes) evolution.
So,you call a basketball game a mix of TPS,RPG and RTS? Graphics better than U2? If it realy revolutionarized gaming, why aren't we seeing more and more games like that?MonsieurX
It's the dirty little secret within the video game industry. Developers don't make many basketball games so that the masses don't pay much attention. That way people are left unaware of NBA Street Homecourt's revolutionary status and other devs can claim such a title for their games, when all they're really doing is emulating the basketball game.
I would pick
The Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Bros
UFO: Enemy Unknown
DOOM
Pong
(Super) Streetfighter 2 (Turbo)
But hey, each to his own... man I still love the SF2 theme :P
I am definitely bookmarking this thread when the System Wars Awards return and will be nominating it for "Funniest Thread of the Year"
[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="stenderoni"] We don't see more games like it because the formula is so amazing that its super hard to duplicate. stenderoniuuh... this is a pretty lame way to counter argument (no offense). saying "it's so good nobody even tried to emulate" isn't an argument. Usually developers will try to emulate great games but NBA Street Homecourt is so revolutionary that developers have enough respect to not emulate it until they can do it right.
Yeah, that's it....
GTA 3: huge open 3D world, do whatever you want. first time a videogame ever did it. BrunoBRS
It wasn't the first freeroaming game by a long shot (either 3d or 2d). This article explains some of it, and even then it's missing important series like Ultima (which I'd call the most revolutionary series of all time).
Personally my most revolutionary game of all time is Resident Evil back on the Playstation. When someone mention survival-horror you immediately think of Resident Evil without really any hestitation. Sure there were games like Alone in the Dark during that time, but Resident Evil really brought survival-horror to the masses. Not to mention it was one of the first game to introduce actual cinematic video footage into games. If it wasn't for this game I don't think the survival horror genre would be this big during this era.

Hm, I don't think 'being popular' makes it the most revolutionary game of all time.
As you said, Alone in the Dark came out a few years earlier and had pretty much all of the same gameplay mechanics, and there were heaps of games before it that used real-life footage in them, many using that footage throughout the entire game.
It's a great game and certainly influential, but it didn't really do anything new.
i read the first 5 pages and i'm just THRILLED that not one single personposted "Halo" man.........maybe the gaming community has finally gotten their heads out of there behinds. Awesome!
[QUOTE="Phoenix534"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] lol i believe you :P @phoenix- awesome, isn't it :Pstenderoni
Really awesome. Also, stenderoni, how in the world does a basketball video game change your life?
True art can change lives. Just ask any Michael Jackson fan. Before i listened to Heavy Metal i didnt care about what i was listening.
After i started listening, the second i herd MJ on the radio, i went and threw it out the window and beat it up with my bare fists till the CD that was stil inside got stuck in betwen my fingers and didnt come out...
True art does change lives.
Seriusly. We can see how amazingly super uber unbelivably chuck norris is not so awsome awsome this game is to you. But i suspect blogs are for this? Cuz here its not a discussion realy. Its just *some guy states something that NBA:SHC isnt revolutionary, you come in and say yes it is no matter what*. If this was a discussion you would provide valid points of people to discuss over... Like all the amazing features the game had for the first time IN ALL OF GAMING (not on the 360, in entire gaming, otherwise change your title).

No, not really. Nobody wants to emulate a sports sim, that is why they aren't doing it. There are better games out there, go try some.
Will you shut up about this NBA game already. Nobody cares!! No way is it the most revolutionary game. Get a life!JDW_gamesPersonally, after processing this outlandish statement, I now believe that I don't mind if he says that NBA Street Homecourt (that name will never be the same to me again, considering how he avoided any pronouns and just put the full name) is the most revolutionary game of all time... it's just his poor excuse for justification.

ok not the first, but it's the one that popularized it and mastered the concept. Will you shut up about this NBA game already. Nobody cares!! No way is it the most revolutionary game. Get a life!JDW_gamesWhy are you being so cranky? I think you need to play some NBA Street Homecourt. It will make you relax better than any weed you could ever smoke.
Tetris.
I'm not kidding.
Filthybastrd
well, its definetltly the best puzzle game ever;) i'd put it in no.6 in "most revolutionary games of all time"
you know what game i really hate? that one called nba street homecourt. i did not think it added anything new to the genre.h2owizardDid you read the OP?
[QUOTE="mo0ksi"][QUOTE="skrat_01"]There is no such thing. Enough.stenderoniThis. There are several revolutionary games but there's nothing that can be deemed as the most revolutionary due to the different genres in play. I used to think like this too but then I played NBA Street Homecourt. Now I know that there are such things as revolutionary games.
They know that revolutionary games exist. They are saying that there is no such the as the most revolutionary game. And this game is NOT on the list.

That's what I meant. I used to think that there was no such thing as a most revolutionary game but NBA Street Homecourt proved that there is such a thing. How can you say that the game is not the most revolutionary without playing it? You should try and find a place in your heart for this wonderful game.[QUOTE="randomwiiplayer"][QUOTE="stenderoni"] I used to think like this too but then I played NBA Street Homecourt. It is just another sports game. And where exactly did you pull the information that I haven't played it from? I have played it, it is nothing special. It did not, and will not change gaming in any way. Mario 64 did it with its 3D platforming, Halo did it with it making FPSs good on consoles, yet this did nothing.
