The most shocking lack of logic on SW

Quite a few examples to pick from, but when I think of it the oddest thing that is common practise here is the complete disregard for multiplats. If a console doesn't get good exclusives it doesn't have a good lineup is a very common thought here, it seems. This applies for instance to people claiming that the first two years of the PS3 sucked. Quite frankly, it wasn't that bad, but people just ignore multiplats. Another example is people claiming the 360's 2011 will suck as a fact,even though there will be loads and loads of multiplats. This kind of strange reasoning is really exclusive to SW (and comparable online communities).

Anyone got other examples of recurring fallacies, so to speak, that they've noticed here on SW?

We argue over video game consoles. This should not surprise you...

If I have a PS3, a 360, and a PC, and one of those 3 is only getting a bunch of multiplats I won't play on it. Why would I think of it as having a good year?Skittles_McGee

Because you are not the norm and 'real people' don't care (or even know) whether a game is multiplat or not and generally own only one console anyway.

Some mistakes i see made repeatedly.
$60 a year is $0.0000019 a second, so it's really cheap!
Console games are in HD.
Price or cost of a game doesn't matter in terms of score or sales.
Handheld gaming is fundamentally less valuable.
The wii can't offer a good online experience.

Shooter = bad

Just because you don't like shooters doesn't mean they should not exist or that they are bad. If you're tired of them stop playing them and just because the world doesn't follow in your footsteps doesn't mean they're idiots.

What I hate most though are those people who sit and say they wont buy a game and know they wont like, then they buy the game anyway and then complain about how terrible the game is. This mostly applies to Call of Duty and Halo. I've seen people who seemingly purchase those games for their invisible legit complaint internet forum license.

Yeah, although I think the exclusives/multiplat argument should only be used as one of the reasons to purchase one console over another. There's no point buying Console A over Console B if all the exclusive games you like are on Console B. Sure, multiplats are great, but you can play them regardless of what major system you're playing on. Online, exclusives, price, accessories and DVD/Blu-ray capability are the types of things that differentiate consoles.

Well, there are some recent trends that annoy me:

* People who complain about shooters having no creativity and originality, and then going on to admit they only play unoriginal shooters such as Call of Duty and Medal of Honor.

* A while ago there seemed to be a lot of topics with complaints about how Crysis was supposedly 'just another generic shooter' with great graphics. Be more creative, fools.

And my all-time favourite is not recurring, but therefore not any less baffling and memorable:

"SMG2 is not an exclusive because I can pirate it on my PC."

Console graphics are atrocious ( and every other sentence like this, that is exaggerated to the point where its ridiculous)

30 fps is unplayable except if its crysis, because that's smooth as butter at 20 fps.
