Hmm.. Studio isn't as important to me, as it is for who's Directing it... but I am willing to bet it may still suck, but I hope it's still good though... and have hopes. It may be the best movie from game... :P
I wonder what kind of tone the movie will have. The games are over the top ridiculous with super villian type bosses. Then they mix in this inane commentary on the philosophy of soldiering. If you notice all three games adhere to the exact same pattern. Snake infiltrates someplace in dramatic fashion, the main bad guy is introduced, a series of boss battles peppered with sneaking bits, then Snake gets captured, then he fights Metal Gear maybe a couple more boss battles and then FIN. This is a good formula for the movie and I think they should stick with it. If they try to make it too realistic it won't work. Then again...who knows? They might use the movie to introduce a new "Snake" and style of game. Its hard to imagine there not being a game linked to the film.
Well Kojima already told Uwe to go and screw himself and stay away from it.
They should make it a CG film like Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. Heith

I think we should congregate in front of Sony Pictures and get on our knees and pray for a decent movie adaptation of the game, because with Hollywood's track record with game-to-movie adaptation, only God Himself can make this a good game. Or a great director. Whichever is more effective.

I don't see the movie being any good. I mean, if no one could get the Halo movie to work (assuming it wasn't "cancelled" solely because of royalty issues) after Halo 2 made somewhere between 120-160 million dollars in one day, I don't see any game-based movie doing well.

Easy. Consider Resident Evil. We're talkin over four games of material, a lot of which could make an awsome movie...and how much did they use? Some names and loose associations? Same story for Silent Hill. Both had tons of usable material, some even that could be expanded, but no.

I have fears for this movie. Just because it's a movie-game doesn't mean it's easy to translate to movie. Kojima is a game-movie director, not an all out film director. Hopefully a director that is fully fanatic about the game will take the reins though. However, this proves nothing about MGS 4 being exclusive.

I heard a rumor from 6yo johnnie next door that has 360 that MS is going to buy Sony Pictures and they already bought hideos studio too and they will all be released for xbox only THE CAUWZ HAs TEH BEEN OwneZd.

Konami could have agreed to let Sony make the movie if Sony lets them get more share of the profit to be made from the movie and in return Konami promises to keep MGS4 exclusive to the PS3. In this way, if there aren't enough PS3s sold to customers, at least Konami could make up for it in profits from the movie. I'm not saying this is the case, but it does lower the chances of MGS4 going to another platform.

"I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement," Kojima said in a statement. "False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood."
Kojima got a Class-A contract from Sony. That contract could be similar to what I described in my post. The fact that it's a big budget movie doesn't change what could be written in that contract that Kojima signed.

That's the impression I'm getting. This is the kind of deal only Sony (with its media connections) could orchestrate. It'd also be the one thing Microsoft couldn't match.
this means another blu-ray title on for sony, sells more systems like spider-man 3 will, strengthens and solidifies relations with kojima and konami for sony :D
