Seriously, where is the proof that it will go for $400.
Sony plans on going from $600 to $400? It sounds like to big of a jump to make business sense.
Are you sure they aren't going to see how a permanent $500 price tag sells?

Isn't a $400 price tag speculations? Or rather an assumption at this point? It seems like we may be setting ourselves up for a lot of ownage.
also ms, told us back in july sony was doing this, and they stated the price was going to be 399.99. thats th only way sony can it out for all consumers to eat it up. plus its missing card readers, 2 usb cords, 40 gigs of hdd space,
399.99, is the price deal wit it, stuff in technology get cheaper to make as time goes

The 40GB PS3 will have the same # of USB ports as the 80GB one. Taking the two ports out would not save Sony any money, and would only anger the customers.
It could be $500 with a bundle , but alone it is unlikely because the 60 gigs are $500 and they are still out there. I would say $450 at the most without a bundled game.

Thank you> Finally someone will accept the fact that it just may retail for $500. I don't know why you sony fanboys claim to know Sony's future pricing strategies. They have obviously made many bewildering decisions in the past...

The FCC test showed two less usb ports on that model number. The system also had wifi.[QUOTE="Timstuff"][QUOTE="G10mgs4"]also ms, told us back in july sony was doing this, and they stated the price was going to be 399.99. thats th only way sony can it out for all consumers to eat it up. plus its missing card readers, 2 usb cords, 40 gigs of hdd space,

wow, I smell some major pwnage a brewin...
[QUOTE="septicvirus"]Not so fast... Sony has a lot of money they need to recoupe. At this point, a much cheaper manufactured system selling at $500 for a while will allow them to do that.JTH_22
Not if it doesn't sell. Which it won't, not stripped down.
We saw a spike in sales when the price dropped to $500 didnt we? Didnt sales just about double for the month? Then they ran out of systems.

That was a 60gb model with all the trimmings. You're comparing apples and oranges, you fail. I'll buy it at $399 but noone is going to buy a stripped down version of the PS3 at $499. That would be stupid.

What will it be missing other than backward compatability (which the general public will not really be made aware of) and a few less gigs of hard drive space (which the general public will not see much of a difference in)??????
