The new system wars trend: If it's multiplat, COMPLAIN ABOUT IT!

Anyone noticed this? Especially cows? Whenever a multiplat game comes out they just crap all over it and say KZ2/Halo 3 even though it's a totally unrelated game. Apparently RE:5 is utterly generic trash but a freaking RUN & GUN casual shooter is revolutionary to all the gaming world. This has been a trend that really started with Assasin's Creed which was a good game, just not wonderful. Most of my favorite games (with the exception of GRAW 360 and Heavenly Sword) are multiplats.

In my professional, this comes down to two factors.

1) The fanboys latent ideology that any multiplat shared with the other system is automatically inferior. Their beloved console of honor and courage cannot be deduced to playing the same garbage the inferior console does.

2) The fanboys must dumb down multiplat games in order to raise the effectiveness of their single platform games. The immense hate Dead Space and Mirror's Edge got was rediculous and unwarranted. The same people who say games like RE5 and GTA IV suck are the same people who say Crackdown is godly with it's amazingly simplistic and unexpansive (but fun) gameplay and Gears of Uncharted is simply the most awesome game ever.

The way of the fanboy is LOL.

The only trend that is doing my head in at the mo is damage control this forum is getting really bad for it. No one accepts and are so quick to defend their precious console.

yea people are talkin wreckless about RE5, especially since its just like RE4 but with a big graphics upgrade

I havn't really noticed this to be honest, with RE5 yes, but generally it's mostly about exclusives here. People tend to just ignore multiplats because this is System Wars. If people want to talk multiplat then go GGD. There is just no argument for multiplats in System Wars, unless of course it's on 360/PC, PS2/PS3 etc. or one version is significantly better. Or when people annoy the hell out of me talking about mods and graphics.

I think you have a very good point. It's like fanboys see it as "treason" to enjoy multiplat games.

If Resident Evil 5, Assassins Creed, DMC4 and GTA IV had remained exclusive, they would be treated like gold bullions being dangled to those who couldnt have. If MGS4 went multiplat, it would be treated as if it were the lowest form of life.

I agree with RE5 getting too much hate but the hate multiplats thing is only appliable between PS3 and 360 and maayber PC. Anything else and they are just ammo to push agenda.

No, I would say we are still seeing more "Our version is superior" threads. Almost as if it voids the fact that the game is coming out for the other systems.

It's the sacred duty of us Hermits to complain about every multiplat ever made, just because consoles dumbed it down. I suppose cows just liked our methods of whinning and copied it. ;)

Put Infamous and Prototype up against each other in a poll and watch the majority of PS3 users vote for Infamous, even though Prototype will also be available for PS3.

Exclusives give merit to an individual platform were as multiplats do not, when it comes to comparing them people will side with the exclusives. So when identifying flaws in a game and complaining people are much more likely to criticise the multiplat, if the game sucks it won't impact the platforms image like a exclusive would.

Maybe it would be more friendly if lemmings would stop trying to use multiplats as a reason to triump over PS3 exclusives.

For instance KZ2 hits, lemmings start to rely on RE5 but it is already on PS3 so argument is basically pointless.

As for me, I love great multiplats. They fill the void waiting for PS3 exclusives to hit. At all the same time I am playing KZ 2, MGS 4, Uncharted, Motorstorm 2, Warhawk, Resistance, etc but at the same time I am enjoying GTA 4, Call of Duty, RE 5, Dead Space, and many more.

DMC4 also fell into this tend.

I am glad I don't follow trends.
