The Official New Super Mario Bros Wii Hype Thread (OFFICIAL HYPE: AA)

The Wii's biggest title for this holiday season, and the game that finally promises to bridge the gap between the casual and the hardcore, is all set for release in a matter of a few weeks: New Super Mario Bros Wii, which takes the idea of the DS iteration a step ahead with the inclusion of 4 player co-op/competitive (depending on how you like it!) multiplayer action, promises to leap the chasm that wasopened up 3 years ago wth the release of the Wii.

The game will have upto four players playing out as one of the characters from the Mario kingdom, as they all work together to cross a series of side scrolling levels. However, you don't have to work with your friends- you can work against them too! If a friend annoys you too much, then shoot a fireball at him, and collect the coins he drops before he realises what happened! Just like The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords before it, New Super Mario Bros Wii promises to revolutionise local multiplayer gaming forever!

it looks like it might be a AA (especially if those two toads don't become something else....just ONE toad with OG colors)

but i REALLY REALLY want it to be AAA...the wii really needs a AAA game this holiday season

mario, luigi, OG colored toad, wario, waluigi, peach....and maybe bowser as a super unlockable

just because it's a up to four player game doesn't mean they have to limit us to just four characters....lol

When you consider the fact that the game was built with 4 players in mind, I don't see the game being difficult at all. Props for the new suits, though.

I think it'll get AAA inmost places..... but it'll be AAAA to me. I love my MARIO!

Already have the game pre-ordered, so I'm naturally looking forward to this game. I don't really know what it will get score-wise though.

I'll just take a guess and say an 8.

I can't see this scoring anything but AAA....come on it's classic 2D Mario, now with 4 player Co op. That's just win through and through.

Im going with AAA. Well its a mario platformer, 2D and a sequal to an AAA game. All thought it might slip into the AA region because of length. Something just screams short whenever i see this game.

I am going to say AAA. This is if the game is at least 10 hours long.

I think it has potential to be AAA the new items look cool and the 4 player mode sounds exciting.

I really want the game to do well and get AAA, but unfortunately I think it'll get AA.

I know graphics aren't everything, but this looks just like the ds version, they need to spitshine it more.

My theory is that they were originally making it for DS before someone said "Hey, guys, the DS kinda can't do 4-player co-op."

You can attack/kill each other on every single level on the main game. It's basically vs. mode.

Why does it need Wii speak? "Jump over the goomba!" 'Roger that!"

I think it should be red toad and who ever else. Don't say Wario or Waluigi. They are jerks and wouldn't help Mario or Luigi, and then the story would be kind of weird...

I really looks like they ported up NSMB for the DS onto the wii and added co-op.

But if the co-op is awesome (which it looks to be the case) I could see this getting 8.0 - 8.5

Graphics don't mean jack...any other reason why you believe it'll score so low or you plan to stick with your "graphics are hideous" statement?

The wii one has a larger viewing area because of the higher resolution. WAI different.:roll:
