The theme tune! No other game I can think of has such an awesome epic theme, instantly recogniseable, mad violins, crunching guitars, epic noodles, its got everything. So good they put it in Guitar Hero!

Halo soundtracks were definitely amazing, and imo it made the game alot better. Try playing it with no sound.

The main themes for both the Halo series and Halo Wars will always remain among my favorites.

It a great song, but there are better theme songs (MGS, Kingdom Hearts, etc).

I wouldn't say the best, but Halo definately has an awesome soundtrack.

Halo sure does have a great soundtrack, I agree. You went a bit too far by saying it can't be beaten because well, it never beat anything to begin with. Better soundtracks are out there in my opinion.

Yes Halo has an awesome soundtrack.

Mario has been around for quite some time, and so have a lot of other Nintendo franchises :P. Give Halo twenty years and dozens of games, that Gregorian-y chant's gonna be etched into everyone's minds.

As for Metal Gear Solid and the like, it's about different styles, though. They say music is universal, but compared to something like Final Fantasy... that stuff is definitely pretty, but give me the booming drums and choir any day. Then again, I'm slightly biased... those of us, after playing the games and listening to the OSTs, have heard the theme expand and develop, so it's pretty hard to narrow down the specific "theme" to compare it to others.

Blech! I hate that version of the Halo theme. Vehicles are what Halo does best in my opinion followed closely by music.

I have heard far more epic music elsewhere such as God of War 2's "The End Begins", which was also featured in Guitar Hero 3. ;)
