Flying and driving in the real world can be a game.

MS Flight is a flight simulator but if the user role plays as a pilot setting his or her own goals to challenge one self or perceives learning a route or plane as a puzzle in it self it is a game to the person.

Disregarding flight sims, and going back to my quote above, driving on the roads or flying IS NOT A GAME, and you SHOULD NOT MAKE IT ONE. Both are serious undertakings that even under the best circumstances can lead to dead bodies.

Those stupid enough to turn such into a game do not deserve a license to operate.

Racing, rather car or airplane, is done under controlled conditions. Your typical pilot or driver has no business turning it into a game.

You do realise that was partly a joke?...

To quote my self and highlight the defining part that would clearly imply dark sense of humour:

I am sorry if it offends you but it is a game. Flying and driving in the real world can be a game... Like role playing you yourself can define a act a game by simply adding rules to the act like"I'm going to drive down to my nans house completely in first gear" it becomes a challenge and therefor a game.

Going to your nan's house just in first gear is clearly a joke.

You are so stuck on semantics and the danger side of a act rather than the definition of the act being turned into a game through applying your own rules to it or challenge... Meaning just because it can be turned into a game doesn't mean you should. Like you said racing and competitive flying is done under controlled conditions and is still dangerous.

I am done here, the humour has dried up and the crops have turned to dust... I can salvage no sustenance from furthering this conversation with you.

Regardless of how you chose to define it, I will be playing it as a game while drinking a cold beer on the easiest control options possible.

No, I am stuck on clear and concise language. Words have very precise definitions for a reason. Laughing and giggling, for instance, are differentiated only by the minutia.

Say precisely what you mean, and do so succinctly if you wish to be understood.

We all have our days, its a forum. People come here to cut lose... I use gif's simply because they are lighthearted and honestly NEVER take anything seriously, I mean look around the world at the moment you really think that I actually care if MS Flight is a game or not?...

To me being on these forums is a game...

I don't really care if people think it's a game I was just on a rant last night, stupid really. I used to play a lot of flight sims when I first started gaming on PC. I tried MS Flight Sim and just couldn't get into it at all though I could see why people were attracted to it.

The F19 stealth sims, Stormokiv, even Red Baron was more up my street because they felt like games and Flight Sim just never did.

Anyway no point going round in circles about it. Thanks for being gracious about my stupid rant!

For someone who emphasises his love for precision you fall flat on your objective since you have contradicted your self... "laughing and giggling being differentiated only by the minutia" is a direct analogy to how lose the definition of a what game is and can be.

Its a game. It has missions... To quote the Steam page for FSX "With over 80 missions, test your prowess to earn rewards. Try your hand at Search and Rescue, Test Pilot, Carrier Operations, and more. Keep track of how you have done on each mission and improve your skill levels until you’re ready for the next challenge."

Please end this tedious battle of language.

That laughing and giggling are differentiated only by minutia yet require two different words to properly express is an example of how tight a definition is. How you came up with the opposite conclusion is beyond me.

The definition of the word minutia... You see words have definitions but using the word to define a act is lose and at most times trivial and extremely vague. Like determining if something is a laugh or a giggle, you see the words are clear and defined but the telling the two apart isn't so.

The word game has a definition, but defining something as a game isn't as clear cut.
