The only way to justify the price of the new black 360 is if it has HD-DVD built

An HDMI port and a 120GB HDD don't raise the price that high ($479). There is something that micro isn't telling us.

Haven't they still got chips in the original 360 that haven't been activated yet?

Regardless, the games stay on DVD 9, so no worries. I don't see M$ making the same mistake Sony made with Bluray though. Maybe they'll have two models, one HD-DVD and one Blu-ray... or maybe an HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player (hey we are just guessing)

So they are going to raise prices though to combat Sony?

Logic dictates they throw in a relatively cheap 120 gig hard drive and add in an HDMI port while keeping that the Premium and making the current Premium the core. Soon after that, they drop the price overall. Assuming its an ultra premium bundle deal WITH the HD-DVD drive, then well you might have a point.

They want $100 for a 20gb hard drive. What did you expect? The thing that chaps my ass about it is that it still doesn't have built in Wi-Fi. WTF, the DS and PSP have Wi-Fi, but an "upgraded" version of a next gen console still doesn't have it? Shame on you Microsoft. :-(

you really think that? seeing how it has 100GB more space (don't forget that the 20GB HDD still sells for $100) and a HDMI port, it sure seems to me that a $79 price difference is being generous. :|

Microsoft hasn't even confirmed the box, so there's actually alot they're not telling us if this rumor is to be believed.

That to me is the biggest drawback about the 360, they really should have had wireless networking.

If they add HD-DVD, they create big problems for their 10 M core fans/early adopeters, who will feel cheated. If they don't, chances are that the PS3's push for Blu-Ray will tip the scales and render HD-DVD:s obsolete. Not an easy choice for Microsoft by any means, but I don't see Microsoft launching any HD-DVD functionality. Microsoft cannot raise the price of the 360 by much and remain competitive, considering the ever ticking Live subscription fee.

Nope. I don't need an HD-DVD Player. I just want a bigger HDD, HDMI, and please Microsoft make one that doesn't get the Red Ring of Death. I love the 360, and I want to play all the upcoming games. So fix this problem, because it is very widespread.

First off this "Entertainment 360" will only be for a select few. Most will continue to buy the regular setup because most people do not have high speed, and will not be able to get online, will not be able to download demos, and will not be able to use the video marketplace. You guys don't get it. That is the only purpose. The average consumer is going to ask themselves do I need all of that and do I even qualify and most will not even qualify to get it. The premium will continue to sell and will sell more after the price is dropped.

No. It does raise the price that high. People -- have you ever bought a 20GB Xbox 360 hard drive before? They're 80-100 bucks. If you added HD-DVD on that thing it would be almost $700.

Why is an $80 price hike so high when you get a 6x bigger hard drive, HDMI port, and that sick looking black color. Bargain if you ask me.

What they need to do is get with the times and put built-in wireless capabilities. Shelling out an extra $100 for the adaptor blows
