The Orange box is NOT a heck of a deal.

I know the orange box was released a while ago but Im tired of people saying "the best deal in gaming ever" . Its too old games (half life 2 and episode one) + 3 short new games. TF2 is half the multiplayer of COD4 . Portal is 5 hours long and so is Episode 2.

Those are great games but ITS not worth 60 bucks. If it would have cost 40 bucks , then it would be the best deal ever.

MGS Essentials collection IS a better deal . 3 Epic games for 29 bucks.

Portal alone is worth twice the price of the Orange Box. Though it may have been a rather short gaming experience, it is probably one of the best ones I've ever had.

I thought Portal was awesome, but Half Life didnt live up to the hype for me, and why bother with TF2 if you have COD4

Well, if you would take off your fanboy goggles for a moment you'd realize not everyone has played half life 2 and episode one. As such, it is a great deal. Furthermore, Unchararted is only 8 hours, and it';s more expensive than the orange box, so wold you say that's a good deal, or a bad deal?

Forsooth. Portal alone made the purchase worth it. TF2 and HL2 Ep2 were just gravey.

Also I didn't own HL2 or HL2 Ep1 to begin with. But even so...... Portal.... *drools*

clearly you have the console version. the pc version is 50 bucks and TF2 is amazingly fun. it's a different experience than COD4. i prefer it. portal is worth 10-20 bucks on it's own. and since i didn't play HL2 or it's episodes it was a superb deal.

(I personally got it for 25 bucks from bestbuy on a special)

Guess what. I bought Orange Box for the PC for $49, and it was the best purchase that I have ever made.

The Half Life 2 games were terrific, Portal was awesome, a TF2 for the PC craps all over your substandard Halo 3 and console version of CoD 4.

Btw CoD 4 is half the game that TF2 is. I will be enjoying the new Valve content packs coming to PCs while you play the same old grenade spamming maps over and over again.

TF2 > COD4.

But seriously individual package price= 129.75USD that you get for 49.94....yes there are 2 old games in there but guess what? You can gift them away to friends if you already played them(steam wise). Not to mention you get peggle extreme as well :)

I liked it alot.

Half Life 2 still owns last i checked.

Half Life Episode 1 was fun

Half Life 2 Episode 2 was alot of fun as well

Portal=godly

Team Fortress 2 equals fun when you can play, its half an mp game, but its still fun.

Personally it was worth the 60 bucks.

3 short new games, 1 short old game, and 1 previous GOTY winning game.

How is that a bad package?

The topic creator failed to mention this...

1. Developer commentary.

2. Although short, Portal is damn good.

3. HL2 and HL2:Episode 2 are great anyway.

Ummm no?

Portal is one of the most refreshing gaming experiences for me to come along in a LONG time. Easily worth the price of admission.

HL2 and its respective episodes are some of the best first-person shooting gameplay w/ beautiful graphics, excellent story, likeable characters and intense action.

TF2 is good multi-player experience with focus on actual team-based play which is often not the case with most other MP games. Its not my cup of tea but alot of ppl like it alot so there u go.

You bought it for a console? The Orange Box on PC costs $50 and it is the greatest deal in videogame history. Those two old games are still better then most new games and te graphics still hold their own today.

Team Fortress 2 is pure fun, where CoD4 is a mindless grind headache.

Portal is amazing.

Half-Life 2 while dated still looks like ti belongs to this gen as apposed to the last.

Episode 1 ... while the weakest in the package is still decent.

Episode 2 ... is bloody fantastic.

I thought it was easily worth the price, if only for Portal alone. Tho there are prolly better deals at Steam too, like Valve Complete Pack and whatever.

Team Fortresss 2 is way better than Call of Duty 4 and the whole Orange Box package is an amazing deal. The Metal Gear Essential arguements fails because you said Orange Box was not worth its price because it has two old games well heres a surprise for you all of those Metal Gear games are old and a lot less advanced the Half-Life 2s

5 great hours of Portal is worth more than any amount of MGS3. Seriously, I paid $10 for MGS3 and feel ripped off.

1. TF2>COD4, no contest at all imo, especially on the pc.

2. HL2 was amazing, ep 1 was amazing, though not as good as the original, and ep 2 was hands down the best fps to come out last year, unless you say...

3. Portal. Worth 100$ alone. it's just THAT good.

Lol okay, at first I wasnt going to judge you but after that I KNOW you are slow and somewhat mentally stupid.

Portal, 5 hours? What? Three hours most, one hour once you beat it once.

The Orange Box for PC IMO is an amazing deal, TF2 is fun, Hl2+ the expansions are way better then most single player games out.

Maybe you don't know much about game lengths, but most games are 6 to 9 hours long. Portal is almost that by itself. Also most of us have never played the other games because we did not have 5,000 dollar computers when they 1st came out.

I agree...Orange box is good but its not godly. Buying it on pc doesn't give you extra games or levels(aside from mods), it only has "fluid" controls and better graphics. Console gamers are able to handle joysticks and the graphic difference so how would buying it on pc make them feel any different?

Imo portal was boring and annoying. Half life was worth it and TF2 was ok...

The whole package is a hell of a deal. I already owned HL2 and HL2: EP1, but still purchased the Orange Box because of the value involved with this excellent gaming package. Btw, TF2 > COD4, 'nuff said!

It's a fantastic deal. I have HL 2 for the PC, but the other four games were definitely worth the $60. Not to mention the fact that the whole package looks a lot better on my roommate's 1080p TV than it ever would on my PC

*Edit to add that I have the Xbox 360 version of the Orange Box*
