I was having second doubts about this game after hearing about the problems but after reading this I am pick it up afterall.

"There is an upside. The PS3 version of Half-Life 2 and Episode One have a few extra lighting and texture touches that make some areas look better than on 360." That's quite interesting.SolidSnake35Different team, simple as that, they had to make up somewhere. But yeah, if they cant get a very easy-going 2004 engine to be at a constant 360 FPS, the team should be dissolved. But yeah, these guys cant even maintain 30, and my 6200 can do it perfectly
Ehh... somebody needs to do something about these framerate drops in PS3 games.Funkyhamster
its what happens when you port the game... versus coding it from the ground up...and since its EA its not surprising to me at all...but you would think that they would atleast try to code from the ground up...but atleast it looks like it will end up better then what 1up reported
Previews from the big two sites IGN and Gamespot rarely say anything negative about a game or they will lose access to the developers.

Agreed. Every preview I read of almost every game makes it seem like no game will score less than a 9.0 here or at IGN.

That cost ALOT more money, like millions, its alot cheaper to have a code, and try to tweak it to make it work, in this instance the PS3's single core power PC is working against it, they do not use the SPU's and the PS3 is somewhat crippled, they really should have thought the PS3's processor through a bit more, all ports from Pc or 360 will be inferior unless they are dramatically recoded, thats pretty sad when you can get fantastic results so easily from the 360, now you see why there are alot of 360/pc games out there
Gabe Newell was right, if you make a game exclusivly for the PS3, its only good for the Ps3, and nothing else.
Sheep dont even get it so lets rejoice gamers as we share yet another great gameWuTangG

um...EA doesnt have said millions? (neither does valve?) and if Gabe is right then tech. army of two cant be run on the 360 (since the ps3 is the lead platform for that game) but ive seen it run on both consoles just fine

yes, now we'll reed that the PS3 version is better.
Anyway, i'm almost at the white forrest in halflife2:episode 2, so i almost finished the entire box. BUY IT!!! it's great. (unless the framerate problems are really big)

if IGN is right then the problem is only in EP2 (or atleast the most apparent) and it happens sporatically

yep, if they are correct, i think that would be acceptable, and i would advise ps3 owners to buy it (especially if they never played halflife 2).
Previews are very, or not as harsh, as you'd expect them to be, because the people previewing the games have to keep in mind everything they view is a work-in-progress report. Things are likely to change until the game goes gold. That's all there is to a preview.Previews from the big two sites IGN and Gamespot rarely say anything negative about a game or they will lose access to the developers.

I just ordered the PC version for like $25 on friday.
The games were designed on the PC and they are best on the pc, but it is great that all these other platforms get to enjoy the games. The differences in the games probably really only matter with TF2 though. louislegros
they did say the only one of the 5 (well 4 since the TF2 ps3 servers werent up yet) that was having problems was EP2...and since they didnt mention portal im guessing TF2 wont have any problems
[QUOTE="Eltroz"] IGN even talks about a pretty bad framrate. -Renegade
Is it really suprprising considering the 360 version suffers from the same problems? It is exspected from EA but what is Vavle's excuse? I thought the 360 was so much easier to code for?
No the 360 version doesn't have any frame-rate problems. :|

yes it does... HL2 gets some bad drops when all the enimies get on screen
wow - just wow. OB is dead on PS3, let it rest in peace.3picuri3
this is a fine example of when a person comments in a thread without even reading the preview
