Resolution is MEASURED IN PIXEL DENSITY, not how many pixels are active vertically or horizontally! The Order display res is 1920x800 and it keeps the same pixel density as a 1920x1080 resolution. Then it's 1080p in 21:9 format.

Again, by your logic 900p is bigger than The Order "800p" . That's why there is a term 1080p in 21:9 format. The point still stands, The Order is 1080p in 21:9 format

Those are the result of a 1920x1080 render on a 16:10 1920x1200 monitor... Is this game suddenly 1200p as a result because the monitor is 16:10 and 1920x1200? No, no idiot except for yourself would argue that it is because it's clearly not.

Since the vertical resolution of the 1200p display is still 1920 it displays 1920x1080 at the native pixel density with black bars on the top and bottom because horizontal 1080 lines will not fill the 1200 total, exactly what The Order does at 1920x800 and 21:9 on a 16:9 1920x1080 display.

The Order is 800p, you're done, you've been done, suck it up and take your bullshit somewhere else.

Quantum break looks last gen just like pretty much every Xbone title. I must say though that I'm more impressed with Infamous and the Division than the order when taking scale into consideration.

@dynamitecop: One thing people don't understand is the Orders 800p is higher pixel density then the 900p of Ryse. It sacrifices screen space for resolution. So those that say its blurry because it's in 800p are moronic. It has a higher pixel density but it does so by using blackbars.

@imt558: You're wrong and right at the same time. It does contain the same pixel density as a 1080p display but that's because some pixels are cut due to the black bar. As a result, the image is less demanding to render than 1920x1080. The image quality is the same overall but the image is smaller than a typical 1080p render. If they got rid of the black bars they'd need to add more pixels to keep the same density and the game might or might not run worse because of that.

They are right when they say a 21:9 1080p is 2560x1080p though.

Also if you choose 21:9 on a PC monitor you'll get 2560x1080 instead of the standard 1080p. 2560/1080=2.37. 21/9=2.33. Same thing for 1440p. At 16:9 it is 2560x1440 but at 21:9 it is 3440x1440.

@imt558: The game cannot be 1080. The vertical resolution is below 1080p. The pixel density however is the same but that's because on any set up a portion of the image is cut. If you removed the black bars and kept the resolution the same, it would be 800p.

Since the image quality is the same as 1080p because the display is cut, it would be wrong to say it is 800p as the image quality is superior BUT they cheat to achieve the 1080p quality as they render less pixels than a standard 1080p image.

Who cares, QB 720p with FPS drops, LOL.

Just decide already. That's why you have term : 1080p in 2.40:1 aspect ratio (21:9).

It's somewhere in between. It is 800p number of pixels with 1080p image quality.

If you simply label the game as 800p it is incorrect as someone would expect the game to be 1860x800 which it is not.

If you label the game as 1080p on a 21:9 aspect ratio it would again be incorrect as the expected and accepted standard for 1080p at 21:9 is 2560x1080.

It is 1080p quality with 800p number of pixels because of the black bars. It sits somewhere in between. They were going for a cinematic experience so I can't say I really blame them.

BUT they have the advantage of drawing less pixels on any given scene so the effects can be better as a result. No doubt were it true 1080p (2560x1080 or 1920x1080), the in-game effects would suffer. By how much? Only the devs know.

Anyway since we have not scene QB or Uncharted in their release forms I will withhold judgement until then. Lets be honest we know Uncharted 4 will be downgraded when it's released. Still both UC4 and QB will more than likely be much more enjoyable games than The Order so there's that.

It's not wrong to say it's 800p because it is, you just have to provide the context on how it's 800p which I have already done multiple times in here, he just refuses to grasp it.

The reason the pixel density is the same is because the image still has a native 1920 vertical lines of horizontal resolution on the y-axis, the x-axis only has 800 because the top and bottom were chopped from the render thus it still has the native density, it's just not a 1080p render, it's 800p.

Played The Order last weekend, the game looks ok and has a good art direction but to me it's far from being a graphical landmark, even just on ps. Not to mention that mechanically is one of the most mediocre games I've played.

Correction, seeing as how QB xbox 1 version has been confirmed to be 720p, it's no where near as impressive as The Order much less Uncharted 4. PC version of Quantum Break or bust, the xbox one version is no competition.

@gpuking: Well didn't know I needed a special tv to play the order. All the games I play in ps4, x1, wii u and occasionally PC seem perfectly fine on my tv. The game looks good, but again, not a landmark. It relies too much on artificialities to create that illusion. And even if it was a technical masterpiece the game is too mediocre, and nothing to be proud of.
