I have all those games. Company of Heroes to this day is much more fun and refreshing. Just overall better. Heck it beat Oblivion for PC GOTY.baddog121390

Arcadish fast mouse clicking without any tactics is better then the real strategies from golden era? I don't think so.

Looks like modern PC devs can't make good games anymore. Compare stuppid HoMM 5 that doesn't have any strategical AI to HoMM 3. The 9 years old game  just totally destroy this modern crap.

There is tonnes of tactics in Company of Heroes. It's probably the most tactical RTS game ever made. And for God's Sake, it's stupid not "stuppid".

Maybe, but RTS doesn't supposed to have any tactics. Lack of controls and mess instead battles, this kind of games mostly about control of map.

I wish people would stop comparing them...you get what you pay for and PCs aren't cheap.  Arguing about systems is reserved for poor people who can't afford every system, a category hermits do not fall under.  Which is why nobody ever talks about PCs on these forums.

In your previous post you stated that CoH didn't have enough tactics/stradegies. You haven't even played the game.

Our intelligence is insulted by cooking mama just as often as your intelligence is insulted by new graphics cards coming out every few months and new RAM being needed all the time. Honestly, I'm spending $250 for a Wii. I don't know why you assume gamers NEED to play in HD. Sure if you NEED to play HD games, then the PC COULD be cheaper, but there's no guarantee a decent PC now won't be obsolete in about 3 years. There is a guarantee that consoles won't be.

Furthermore, do the games on consoles not provide enough of an argument for you? Games like Gears of War, Super Smash Bros, Devil May Cry? Maybe think about what games a gamer likes before assuming there are no good reasons to getting a console. PC is the cheapest... ha... Have fun with your $1000+ PC while I'll be enjoying my innovative Wii and playing multiplayer in a way that PC gamers can't compete with (NOT having to buy 4 PC's to play with 4 players).

For $250.

OMGTEHGRUKWTF

If you buy a 360 or PS3 without an HDTV, you got ripped off friend.

About the Wii. The Wii is a gimmick and it's only selling because of its low price point, but whatever. You can have your NES ports, I will be playing Unreal Tournament 3, Crysis and Spore thanks. Have fun with your 4 player multiplayer, I will be playing 64+ player multi on the PC.

And no, Gears of War, Super Smash brothers and DMC don't really compare to PC exclusives like Crysis. And then there is the fact that I will be getting GOW by 2008 anyways with better graphics.

There's still no denying that I can play a Wii for $250, but I can't play a PC for that much money.  Whether the "quality" is better or the "graphics" are better makes no difference.  The point is, the PC is not cheap in any way.  You need to spend more than a thousand dollars every few years to keep up with PC gaming.  That is far from cheap, my friend.

wow so much ignorance.... you know you can use your console on your pc monitor and don't tell me 1080p is not HD. I didn't want to read all your article b/c it's super biased but how can a PC cost less than a 400$ 360 or a 600$ PS3 . And no a PC is not a system unless you consider photoshop a game.

1. The PC is actually the cheapest option this time around. I don't know how many of you twelve year olds actually went out and bought your consoles yourself, but when you add in the obligatory cost of an HDTV, consoles cost more than a high-end gaming PC.  My 8800GTS/P5W DH Deluxe/2GBPC6400 RAM system cost about $1000 total (Newegg rocks). Your average console setup will cost you $1400-$1600 (Console + $1000 HDTV). Honestly, there is no excuse to purchase a console over a PC except perhaps ignorance.

2. All the multiplats that come out look and play better on the PC. There are a couple exceptions to this but that has more to do with lousy porting than anything else. Unreal Tournament 3? Best on the PC. Assassin's Creed? Bioshock? Alan Wake? Quake Wars? Best played on the PC. This is because games are always geared towards the highest end PCs. Also mods.

3. Console resolutions suck. 1280x720 is barely HD, and costs $1000 just to get there. We can get 1680x1050 for $200. Don't give me that 1080P argument either -- it's either upscaled (quality decrease) or the game is only rendering 2 or 3 things on the screen at the same time.

4. You CAN hook your PC up to an HDTV and it is very possible to play it in the living room on your couch if you wish.

5. Sony/Microsoft/Wii are ultimately greedy corporations at the end of the day, and will do whatever they can to milk you whether it be by charging you for online play, making your console obsolete every year, forcing you to pay for mods that are free on the PC or insulting your intelligence with games like "Cooking Mama".

Discuss.

OMGTEHGRUKWTF

You know...you can hook consoles up to VGA moniters.:)So..console games can be in 1680x1050 to.360=$600 dollars after getting the moniter you listed for $200 dollars, and as far as I see it...$1000>$600.T.T How is 720p "barely" high definition,720p is high definition...hate it or love it.LoL,one more thing, your OS is most likely Windows...its made by Micrsoft. If it OSX,Apple is greedy too, hate to break it too you.If its Linux,I dont think most people "hermits" around here would classify you as a gamer, from the posts ive seen of them. For the rest of your post, its oppinion.

P.S.-Is this a custom built PC,and those 3 parts you listed plus everything=$1000?Or did you leave out the price of the motherboard,cpu,harddrive,dvd/cd drive and whatever else?

Did you get the latest graphics card so you can get the latest game to run better ? did you buy enough RAM ? do you have a Virus ? do you have vista ? . I was a hermit and it sucked except for HL2.

2. All the multiplats that come out look and play better on the PC. There are a couple exceptions to this but that has more to do with lousy porting than anything else. Unreal Tournament 3? Oblivion highest score on 360 , same with R6V. Well frankly i don't care about poor user created content so yeah and what if my 1 year old PC can't run games properly and they lag ?

720p and 1080p are HD love it or hate it...

4. You CAN hook your PC up to an HDTV and it is very possible to play it in the living room on your couch if you wish.

So you have to buy a wireless keyboard , a wireless mouse , cables and how the heck are you gonna carry both keyboard and mouse . O wait ...what did you say earlier about HDTV's ?

LoL ...microsoft owns PC gaming , Nintendo saved gaming with mario in the 80's while Sony was the leader last 2 gens with the PS and PS2.

Is saying "PC wins the system war" not kind of like saying "Switzerland won WW2"? How do you win something you're not involved in? The system wars are between game consoles, PC usage is outside gaming, they aren't designed as pure games machines, therefore they can't compare. Obviously they are going to be "more advanced" because the technology is constantly updated and the PC itself is a complete multimedia machine with infinite lifespan as long as the finance for the upgrades is there. Consoles are designed for finite existence and include the available "upgrades" in their primary launch. And without wanting to get into a pointless argument, The sales figures for PC gaming at least suggests that the possibility of technical superiority isn't enough to take people away from consoles, since console games generally sell more.

A PC that outperforms the consoles today will outperform them until next gen...no upgrades a required to do that.

The sales figuers of PC games dont include online/MMOs/and downloads via progs like Steam...So they are ridiculus...

And last time Ive checked its SYSTEM wars here not "console wars"...

BS ALERT. Xbox360 cannot output in 1680x1050... Only 1280x1024 and that's upscaled. Basically if you use a widescreen PC monitor with your Xbox 360 you are using it way below your native resolution and it's the wrong aspect ratio... 16:10 vs 16:9... So the picture looks like crap. Not only that but the colors are washed out over the VGA connection, which means that your console barely looks any better than an SDTV if you try using it on your PC monitor (this is Microsoft's fault). PS3 has no built-in PC monitor functionality that I am aware of.

Listen fanboys, if you don't know what you're talking about, just keep your ignorant mouth shut.

1. Don't care about racers, don't care about fighters. Hack and slashes work perfectly fine on the PC -- ever heard of Diablo?

2. The Xbox360 versions of games have ALWAYS ALWAYS had low playercounts because of RAM limitations. This may be different in MMO games because of instancing, but look at Gears of War. That had what, 8 players max? 16? That's pathetic.

3. Crysis, Spore, Hellgate:London, World in Conflict, Fallout 3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Guild Wars 2, WoW? But that's not the point. The point is that all the multiplatform titles (Unreal Tournament 3, Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, etc) will all look and play better on the PC.

Oh really?

1. Your HDTV runs games at 1280x720 NATIVELY.

2. My monitor runs games at 1680x1050.

Therefore, my setup>Your setup. That was easy.

And to maintain those supposedly bleeding-edge graphics, you have to spend around $800-$1000 PER YEAR, as opposed to quality that is very close for a minimum of four years (lifespan of consoles).  Do you honestly think you can sit there and act as if Nvidia and ATi aren't greedy either?  Because that is what releasing a $600 graphics card every three months seems like to me.

Yeah because EVERY graphics card is $600 and the government forces me at gunpoint to spend $1000 upgrading my computer every year, right?

Too bad you can't spell. :\ But seriously, the PC have just about every game the Xbox 360 has.

[QUOTE="OMGTEHGRUKWTF"]

Best on the PC. Assassin's Creed? Bioshock? Alan Wake? Quake Wars? Best played on the PC. This is because games are always geared towards the highest end PCs. Also mods.

Oblivion highest score on 360 , same with R6V. Well frankly i don't care about poor user created content so yeah and what if my 1 year old PC can't run games properly and they lag ?

Discuss.

LoL ...microsoft owns PC gaming , Nintendo saved gaming with mario in the 80's while Sony was the leader last 2 gens with the PS and PS2.

turgore

poor user created content? If u think that then ur a retard and you haven't met any modders and played any mods. Thats just ridiculous. If it wasn't for mods, Oblivion wouldn't be half as good.  And about the ratings, its called STANDARDS. Pc has obviosly has higher standards.
