The PS3 just alienated the last of the hardcore community with that idiotic move and statement removing Backwards Compatability. The 360 might not even outsell the Wii last month (if it did it was only by several thousand) and the Wii is about to have four months of AA and AAA titles. Even if they didn't they are still in 1st place in every market.

Its time people realize that its not a fad, that the Playstation as a future platform is dead, and the 360 is going to be relegated to niche games. We need to start pressuring developers to make quality, indepth, and good looking games for the Wii. Nintendo is doing it so we know its possible, they need to do it now, or gaming is going to get real boring. When the next Wii comes out with state of the art power and graphics, that will be the end of pad gaming forever. Motion gaming has won, and its not even graphically superior. The sooner you embrace the sooner you will have fun. Or you can go back to the PC, whatever, just stay out of Nintendo's domain.

Do you care that Sony are literally begging third party developers not to abandon them?

This is more pathetic than anything before it. Even the Dreamcast left with more dignity.

One piece of news that came out this week was that Sony pleaded with third-party developers not to abandon its struggling platform. That change in attitude is a marked difference compared to the arrogance of past years. The argument is that the PS 3 will show its strength as developers learn how to make games for it.

The PS platform isn't dead, it's just in last place. The 360 has a broader variety of games than the Wii, and appeals to hardcore gaming much more than the Wii (and this doesn't look to change). The Wii is better for some types of games due to the wiimote, but not for all of them, so no, the Wii isn't going to destroy "pad gaming". Motion gaming hasn't won, it's simply appealed to a bunch of people who weren't/aren't interested in most videogames. And I have a Wii, and no, I don't think I'm having more fun on it at the moment. What I'm doing is staring at it, waiting for Mario Galaxy to come out, and wondering if/when other good games will come out for it. Face it, people who own the Wii have to convince themselves that the new control scheme makes for the games, because otherwise they have a paperweight even worse than the PS3 (because at least the PS3 plays blu-ray movies).

you know sony just dropped the 80 to 500 and have another version for 400 coming . people complained about the price sony took care of it . if you want b/c get the 80 or the 60 not hard.By the way sony is half way there behind 360 by 6 million this was at a high price and no game. what do you think a low price and more games will do.

You can't count anyone out yet, including the PS3 (though it looks very bad for them)... and this whole business about the Wii "winning" already... aren't they only ahead by like 400-500 thousand. That's no much in the grand scheme of things... especially for the coming holiday season. Nintendo already said they won't meet demand... and is MS can pack the shelves, they can catch or pass Nintendo. I didn't say they would, I said they could. Just look at last holiday season's NPD numbers, when the Wii was in short supply. Also, the Wii has a low attachement rate with games, and recently a low "interest" with curent owners. I agree the Wii is surpassing most people's thoghts of how it would do... but declaring the Wii a "winner" is far worse than declaring the PS3 a "loser" at this point. Me... I own the system that will win this generation... as I own all 3! :)

If Sony want to expand their market, then BC is probably a good idea.

Personally, BC would be one of the PS3's main selling points for me - not just because there aren't any outstanding PS3 games out right now, but also because I've never owned a Playstation console.

ROFL, you think MS is being hounded by every developer ever to justallow them publish a game?

"Hey, devs... would you like to develop this game for us"

"No."

"No? How about 10 million dollars?"

"... ok."

Didn't their best selling dev just leave them to pursue other endeavors, btw?

Look, I'm close to as anti-Sony as you can get, but there's absolutely no way it's dead yet, and I'll give you two reasons why: 1) 2008 exclusives--If MGS4 and FFXIII stay exclusive, the PS3 will stay alive. Notice I'm not saying it'll suddenly be in first place (or even second), but it will survive. 2) It plays blu-ray movies--You can buy a blu-ray player + system for $499, soon to be $399. Anyone even remotely interested in buying a BD player will also consider getting a PS3 since it's much more bang for your buck. The more PS3s in the world = more games sold = more games made. Also, keep in mind that the fact it has a blu-ray player allows for Sony to do things with the system that the 360 can't do. I don't know what that'll mean, but putting the Hard Boiled blu-ray on the Stranglehold disc is a good step.

The Playstation platform still has a long way to go before it's dead. It's certainly in big trouble, but if the last two gens couldn't kill Nintendo, I don't think this one will kill Sony.

Well, you can buy a 60 or 80 gig for 500 dollars and play a plethora of ps2 and ps1 games, or a 40 gig and play every ps3 and 1 game for 400 dollars.

Or if you're lucky, a 20 gig for $380. :)
