To make us want to work extra hours.

this, you don't see the greatness of sony's plan, but believe me and them you will know discipline.
u know guys... you can just go buy a psp3000, which is cheaper..basically the same thing the go is just more digital friendly (i guess would be the term).. just pass it by and get a psp 3000..is it really that hard.mmmmm
The ipod touch 16gb is $229 so I can't say I'm too surprised that Sony would make it close to the price of the touch. Not that I agree with it or not but that's just life for you I guess. Sony has to make money somehow since the PS3 isn't.Jrfanfreak88Well, the difference between (iPod to iTouch) and (PSP3000 to PSP Go) is that: 1) iPod is the market leader, PSP is not 2) New iPod always add more feauture than hard drive like video and touch, PSP Go just increased in space capacity but removed a feature of UMD 3) iPod regardless of price and competitors is still prefered by consumers, PSP is not even majority prefered and its price do matter as it cost almost $80-100, more or less depending on region market, is just really unjustable price.
I agree that that might be a reason for PSP Go price. Nonetheless, it can also lead to further financial loss for Sony if PSP Go did not sell well especially if PSP 3000 has better functionality, price, and modifiable, and hackable.Making up for the loss on Ps3
Chutebox
And even without a UMD drive the battery is still only about 2-4 hours.
Lame. Going to buy a normal PSP though.
Because it's new. If you think they increased the price, then you have a psp already and don't need to "upgrade" or you havn't bought one yet and making it sound like Sony with get rid of the earlier versions.LOXO7I have a feeling that Sony will soon get rid of the early version or phase it out because the older version like PSP 3000 will surely affect the sales of the PSP Go.
Doesn't the PSP2000 have the better screen?u know guys... you can just go buy a psp3000, which is cheaper..basically the same thing the go is just more digital friendly (i guess would be the term).. just pass it by and get a psp 3000..is it really that hard.mmmmm

Why did they increase the price. PSP minus disc tray = HIGHER COST!Michael324
Although I think its a tad overpriced as well, you forgot two major points:
PSP - UMD - 1/2 inch of screensize + 16gb memory + bluetooth = higher cost.
PS, a 16gb memory stick is $100 at Best Buy...

yea if you buy it from an overpricing non-online retailer
you can find a 16GB memory stick duo for near $30 online regularly, amazon, ebay. all new, and all from smaller retailers across the globe. 16GB flash memory costs around or less than $100 alone. for ***** sake a 32GB USB drive is like $100.
EDIT: another thing, i bought a 16GB SDHC card for $17 last month. sony shouldve used those too

Actually, I have been pricing them online for a few weeks now. At those places, as well as BUY.COM
The cheapest I have seen even online is $70. But I am not implying that Sony can charge $70 more just for this. I still think it should have been priced at $199.99

The PSPGo is going to be sold at Best Buy. Not online on Ebay. It's not in Sony interest to go the way of the cheapest customer.[QUOTE="Michael324"]Why did they increase the price. I gave up both Sony and PSP.Have you seen all the new psp games that are coming out this year. Seems like you just hard to satisfy. But oh well,I doubt Sony will miss you.

I am undecided about that one, but i am waiting for Soul Calibur first, then Assassins Creed and Resident Evil. May consider the new MGS, but I have not been a fan of the series thusfar.

you would almost think they added something, like 16g memory and a complete redesign.

lol Some plan, Yet I work for what I want. last thing we need is MORE lazy gamers.

Your pretty much right Sony have said its for people on the "GO" life which means they are trying to reach to the iPod Touch consumers out there. not really gamers. And guys we are talking about Sony; Which seem to jack up prices of everything. I'm not Surprised even there Netbooks (which are in the price range of $200-$300) Are over $1,000. this should not shock you all.

lol x2 let me read the whole first page before tossing in the towleI already have a psp2000 with about 40 some games. I will be buying the psp-go day 1. as I want a new psp, and I can carry it easier and i will buy a m2 micro mem stick to have 32mb in my go. I love having a jukebox feel on psp. It's great to not have to lug umds around.... plus it's a new gaget and it's cool. Its made for the early adopters, they will get a lot of profits from it in the first 6 months from people like me who want it (and like I said i already own a psp but it's my favorite device.) They will then drop the price. If they put it out dirt cheap to begin with they will make nothing on it.I have no interest in the PSP Go. I do however, want a PSP 3000.

Treedor has the right logic, Sonys raises the price on the psp to 250$ a billion people by it in 2 months eradicating this worldwide recession. So sonys trying to save the worlds economy with the pspgo DUH! Wii_Gamer_277
except the only way to fix the economy is to shop at small privatly owned local stores instead of big chain stores...

cheapskate logic for you , at least someone here gets that its adding something new... and to the people that say they can get a 16gb mem stick for $30 yeah a fake one on ebay or amazon...their not real...they work at 1/50 the speed and they are fake. A real 16gb stick will cost at least $70 (at cheapest) and a 8gb for $40 at cheapest.this will be my first PSP. and the new redesign and it being fully digital is exactly what i wanted in a PSP.
the price point was right at my very max i was willing to pay.
the only thing that sux was the battery life is unchanged, hopefully that will change with updates or something. Also concerned about the current PSP back catalog but if the last two weeks are any indication we'll start seeing more and more PSP games start coming to the PSN the closer we get to launch.
You shouldn't worry about the games catalog there will be over 300 PSP game releases and 50 PS1 Classics on PSN before the year is out.this will be my first PSP. and the new redesign and it being fully digital is exactly what i wanted in a PSP.

Yeah, I think not improving the psp's battery life in this situation is one of their most idiotic moves ever. I mean not only did they remove the power hungry UMD drive but they made the screen smaller!!! When I heard the battery life was the same I went from wanting it to maybe considering buying it. xothis will be my first PSP. and the new redesign and it being fully digital is exactly what i wanted in a PSP.

I just bought a psp 3000

Anyone that things 16gb or slider or a new coat of paint is the reason the PSPgo is so expensive, just read this article. Sony admits to raising the price for no reason other than to make more money.

You still only considered it a "tad overpriced" and then tried to say that Bluetooth and 16gb memory was a large part of the reason the PSPgo is so expensive. Even listing a 16gb memory stick at BB at $100. The article explains the truth behind the high price of the PSPgo. Just admit defeat and move on.[QUOTE="TBoogy"][QUOTE="mythrol"]

And just so you know, I did not say that those were reasons it cost so much. Just pointed out that he forgot those things in his "review".
The memory card point was to whomever was saying they could get a card for $30.
But if you feel the need to "win" something, then go ahead. It's your lucky day! You are GREAT!
