Sony is series.
[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]The Xbox 360 doesn't anymore either.akbar13It doesn't??? I got mine in 2005 but come on sony... Composite?Nope, ever since Microsoft came out with the "new Xbox 360 Elite repackaging", and got rid of the 60GB Pro Model. They removed the HDMI cable, and the component cable.
A decent HDMI cable is like $20 bucks tops.
Althought I find it hillarious that the definitive HD console (Sony's words, not mine) doesn't come HD-Ready lol.
[QUOTE="Filthybastrd"]Who cares about wifi? I can game perfectly fine in HD on my xbox with component cables that came packaged. You'll live.
The other consoles also lack "significant" things such as wifi.

When I got my Elite it only had component as well. My point about the wireless was that you're going to spend extra cash on something for any console you get and a HDMI cable should'nt deter you.
If you had a HDTV all these years, you should of gotten a HDMI cable way back then.
Any HDMI cable will work for the PS3 and you can find them dirt cheap. Also HDMI are better than componet cables.
HDMi provides better picture and sound and it is not a hassle connecting them to the back of your tv like componet cables.
Yeah I was disappointed today when I got my 360 elite and it did not include wireless internet and only had composite cables. grr. I had to go get a second HDMI! I was sad =(
Why would you want component cable anyways ? the picture you get from HDMI is miles better. And HDMI only cost $5 at monoprice
And you should be gaming with HDMI cables, not composite... better picture.haze_blazeYou can spot the difference between HDMI and Component cables?
HDMI is not "miles" better than component, in fact, they bring you the same level of quality in terms of video. HDMI is convenient and has access to some higher quality audio. Why would you want component cable anyways ? the picture you get from HDMI is miles better. And HDMI only cost $5 at monoprice

Some of the older HDTV's(I have one which is CRT) don't come with HDMI connectionsonly component.Mine can only do 480P and 1080i but itis 55 inches. I'm not sure that the TC has this issue though but just stating for some people don't have the option of using HDMI.

I believe that component can carry a 1080p signal, but most displays will not display it.
Not 100% sure.

HDMI cables are cheap.
For $300 you get a lot of stuff, they did everything they could to keep the price as low as possible.

thats true, but i dont know why they wont remove the vga cables and just include hdmi cables...
i mean, apparently it 'does everything' except for HD out of the box
[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"] The elite I bought a couple of months ago not only came with components cables but also an HDMI cord! :?Stevo_the_gamerYou must have gotten one of the old Elite packages. Was the box black (or dark brown whatever the color was. lol)? No idea .. grayish maybe, honestly no idea? lol I can check tonight its still around somewhere in a closet upstairs I would guess? It was the last one in Target and part of a new shipment they had just got (the guy at the store said they were flying off the shelves), so can't believe it was that old. Will try to remember to check.

If the box looks like this:
Then no HDMI/Component cables.
If the box is different, and has a darker brown/black tone to it. Then it does come with HDMI and Component cabling.

You might have got an older model or one that was sitting on a store self for a while because Microsoft removed both HDMI and Component back in Sep 2009.
I can see why Microsoft doesn't include them any more and why Sony never has. According to this, half of all next-gen console owners play on an SD T.V,So when Microsoft and Sony were looking at were to cut costs, this was the logical place to start.
