TurboGrafx 16/CD

Sega Genesis

SNES

NES

Plus some arcade versions.

I suggest doing your research first. The Wii already plays NeoGeo, along with many other retro games, to create a pretty large library. Besides, if you really want to play old school games, the PC is the way to go. Pretty useless to put this as a Wii-hate support thread, when there are even better options out there.

Wii VC is a joke somewhat. And Sheep can correct me if I'm wrong. But according to the availability of those retro games, the VC doesn't have EVERY single retro games from those specific past consoles, currently available, do they? There were some gripe among Wii owners about a year ago, concerning PD not available yet as well as other games.

Back in 2006, I've always assumed Nintendo would have ALL retro games available for download off the Wii.

How is "legal" retro gaming on the pc? ROMs are illegal. So anything based off that can't be counted. I know of DOSBox and ScummVM for classic MSDOS games. In fact, I use them still to run old games in my collection. Some old games still run fine in Windows 7.

Nintendo may not be able to have all the games from different platforms because of licensing issues. Many old games still have active IPs that their owners actively enforce. Most of my favorite retro games (besides the pc games) are Nintendo's. So I guess I'm set.

PS3(BC version) is a good retro machine but not real retro...that would be atari (so xbox game room wins) then comes nintendo so (wii wins) and again ps3 comes in 3rd place..thats my logic and im sticking to it.

Nintendo can't just put the games on the VC. They have to negotiate rights with the appropriate owners. With all the changes that have occurred in the gaming industry over the years (buyouts, trades, closings, bankruptcies, etc) things can get complicated.
