The PS3 is really a better buy than the 360, especially if you have a computer.

It seems that around here the majority of the people don't seem to like the PS3 at all.

However, the Xbox doesn't really have anything that the PS3 doesn't have. The Playstation Network works great, and since it's free, in my opinion, it's worth a lot more than the paid for Xbox Live service. Anyway, not a very big deal. Not to mention, a lot of times Computer networks are free, sometimes you do have to pay however.

Secondly, just about every 'exclusive' Xbox game eventually gets ported to the Computer. I'm not trying to down the Xbox, I'm only defending the PS3 here, which actually has some exclusives, that will never be ported to the Computer: LBP, Resistance, MGS4, etc. So, if you have a computer, you won't be missing out much on 360 titles.

Thirdly, blu-ray, which right now may be expensive still, but I think that it will eventually drop down in prices, it already has somewhat. Hopefully the PC will be getting a pretty cheap bluray drive soon as well. That should help lower the price of the movies.

Fourthy, I don't want you guys to get the idea that I'm downing the 360, because I'm not, but when it comes to reliabiltiy, and this is probably my most important issue, the PS3 is much more sturdy than the 360, I've heard so many stories of 'the red ring of death' that I would be terrified to ever buy a 360. I mean, some computers die quickly but I would wager that most of the time they are much sturdier than a 360.

This is just my opinion, don't flame me for it.

The thing is: It doesn't really matter if 360 shares some games with the PC. Not that many people game on a PC, so with the PC/360 games counted, 360 exclusives, better genre representation and more variety, the 360 undoubtedly has the more fleshed-out library. So that means 360 offers more games for cheaper, which makes the 360 a better buy in many people's eyes. Throw in a more integrated online service and the fact that PS3 tends to get inferior multiplats all too often and I can definitely see why more people choose 360.

I don't game all that often because I'm very busy with college, so I'm perfectly satisfied with PS3's more limited library, but to people who want to get their hands on as many games as possible, buying a more expensive system only to be more limited in what games one can buy doesn't seem all that worth it in spite of some of the technology and dependibility that the PS3 offers.

The McDonalds analogy is a dumb one when used on Stephen King and it's a dumb one when used on the Xbox360.

Can you guess why?

I'll tell you:

Because McDonalds is YUMMY.

People don't care about having some so-called "gourmet" gaming console.

Why are you always dissin' the ps3? You have only have one and yet you hate on it. i have seen your posts in other threads....why hate on something you own and seem to play according to your sig...doesn't make any sense at all. The 360 may have more quantity..but not quality. You won't find burger king games on the ps3 if you know what i mean. I own 30 blue-ray games and 10 psn games and it has been the best purchase i ever made on a game system...I only got it in April for Gta4 too...so 40 games and a ps3 in around 7 months is pretty damn good, especially when all the games are top notch imo!

You really need to get rid of the ps3 sig ...you don't deserve it, time to get a 360 one, it would fit you better with the way you dis what you own... I really don't understand your logic.

First point was PSN is better then XBL. Fine that is the fun thing about opinions everyone can have one but seems most disagree with you which service is better. Second point was acting like there is no games that are exclusive to the 360. There is Halo 3, Forza2, Lost Odyssey and so on. There is plenty more and most know it but cows love to act like it does not happen. Third point was Blu-Ray and a person could get a Blu-Ray player and a 360 for the price of a PS3 now. Also you mentioned PCs having a blu-ray player so that would make the point of a 360,PC Vs PS3,PC moot. Fourth point about breakdown. OK I will give you MS messed up on that but at least they tried to make it right by the fans with the warrenty. Something Sony did not do with the PS3.

I'm a college student as well, and I also don't have a lot of time to play games, but when I do, the only thing I want to play is Little Big Planet, and occasionally GTAIV, or a computer a game. I don't exactly have a gaming PC either, but my school laptop can handle a lot of games that I'd like to play.

Let me get this straight:

Because I own a certain ELECTRONIC, I must somehow dedicate my online exsistence arguing for it?

Unlike you, I can own something and see its flaws at the same time.

If you were into politics, you'd probably be a rabid partisan towing the party line. I see it as a virtue that I am able to game on a PS3, but am also able to see where it is lacking. By any objective measure, its library is not as fleshed-out as the 360's and its online is not as integrated. I'm not going to lie to myself about that just because I picked a PS3 for entirely different reasons than a fleshed-out library and the most fleshed-out online experience.

In short, I'm not loyal to a machine.

Haha i completely agree with you. You because you own something doesn't mean you have to praise it, like the TC is making it seem like. I own a PS3 and constantly point out the consoles flaws. Flaws are flaws and they will be there, just dont be blind enough to not notice them.

Oh I see someone has taken time out of their busy schedule to read about something that they were posting about. Now that you've read you don't agree, that's fine. At least you actually know what you are talking about now.

And it's fine if you don't agree with me, it just so happens that even if points 1-3 weren't true in my eyes, number four alone is enough for me and a lot of people it seems. And saying someone could get a bluray and a 360 for the price of a PS3, I'm guessing is assuming they buy the 360 that doesn't include a hard drive? Which is considered by most, a bad move. The point was, however, not that PS3 and PC have blu ray drives, it was that the 360 did not.

It all depends on one's credit load, how much work those particular classes require, etc. I literally have two to three essays due about every week. I've never been so busy in my life and now I savor my gaming time.

In fact, I'm flipping back and forth between an essay and this forum currently.

agreed. i own a ps3 and theres nothing wrong with it per se but the 360 just is more fun to play for me, from the online, to the games, to the more comfortable controller in my hands. and honestly, im so sick of the PSN being free BS. Xbox live is a better service and its less than 5 bucks a month. 50 bucks for a whole year is less than the price of a game for chrissakes. its not something like WoW where you have to pay over a 100 a year for the service. and its not just one game, its all games. it does come down to opinion i guess but i still have an original 360 core model and it still works great 3 yrs later. so ive never had those RROD problems. im guessing if i did i might feel different.

The PS3 doesn't have Dead Rising and Forza Motorposrt 2. That was justification enough for me to own a 360.

Oh. OK. Not quite sure why he directed that towards you. Maybe he accidently confused you for that guy that thinks one has to praise what they own.

[QUOTE="h575309"][QUOTE="Franklinstein"]I'm a college student as well, and I also don't have a lot of time to play games, but when I do, the only thing I want to play is Little Big Planet, and occasionally GTAIV, or a computer a game. I don't exactly have a gaming PC either, but my school laptop can handle a lot of games that I'd like to play.Tragic_Kingdom7

LOL i played more games in college than any other time in my life. so much free time and people to play games with. not sure how you dont have time.

It all depends on one's credit load, how much work those particular classes require, etc. I literally have two to three essays due about every week. I've never been so busy in my life and now I savor my gaming time.

In fact, I'm flipping back and forth between an essay and this forum currently.

well i studied chemical engineering in college and had 17-18 credits of engineering courses each semester the last two years of my college career.... so if you know a more rigorous program than that. let me know... i still found plenty of time to play games, party, drink, and other extra curricular activities..... so telling me that someone doesnt have time to play games because of their "course load" is BS

The PC port argument is not considered fully. All that a lot of people see is that the same game is avaialble on the PC. There are many other very important things that set the PC apart from the console, and I hope most of you know this. This being the case, I do not take this PC port argument too seriously. Would you rather play a SNES game off of a SNES on your tv with the SNES controllers, or off of an emulator? I've played the emulator games and they're pretty much duplicates of the originals, but the experience isn't the same. Regarding the Blu-Ray player, I can see that some would value that, but I truly never plan to use a gaming console for anything but games. Even having a PS2, I still went out and purchased a cheapt $40 dvd player. Also, being that I'm cheap, I still go with dvds over Blu-Ray. We do have a PS3 in the household and I'll likely buy one someday. I prefer the 360 library of games over the PS3s, although the PS3 has my favorite current gen game, which is Warhawk. I'm sort of on the fence now as I do hate the failure rate of the 360. That's the biggest problem with the 360. The annual fee for Live is okay. It sucks because I'd rather have a free service, but it's not a huge fee as a lot of people make it seem.

Bottom line for me
360
+ better library of games
- reliability blows
PS3
+ 2nd best library of games
- none

Secondly, just about every 'exclusive' Xbox game eventually gets ported to the Computer.

Franklinstein

why, oh, why does this persist? it's NOT true. despite its lost exclusives, it's still in second place as far as games go.

Franklinstein

Haha i completely agree with you. Because you own something doesn't mean you have to praise it, like the TC is making it seem like. I own a PS3 and constantly point out the consoles flaws. Flaws are flaws and they will be there, just dont be blind enough to not notice them.

Don't put words in my mouth, I never once said or even suggested that I blindly follow something, or 'praise it' as you said. I was offering my opinion.

Sorry i did get confused. who the heck am i talking about lol?

Ohh its World69Star69

It could be course load combined with other factors.

Seriously, you don't know how college affects one's gaming time unless you are that person. You trying to make it sound like some equation.

Maybe you've found ways to game frequently in spite of your work, but personally, I have had alot less time to play video games than I used to when I was younger. My life is more ambitious than it once was and games are just not as much of a priority.

that seems pretty hilarious to me when your spending your free time BSing on a videogame forum, when instead you could just be busting out that paper and playing some games. im not trying to pick a fight here, but honestly, dont get distracted by things, pump out the essays, and do something more interesting. guaranteed theres most likely some pretty girls in your vicinity to hang out with instead of BSing on this forum with us tards.

From what I see, the 360 has a much better library. The games people originally wanted a ps3 for seem to all be coming to the 360 (GTA4,FF13, maybe even MGS). You'll still have Kratos, but considering what it's all up against on the 360, I'd take the 360 library anyday. If you need a high def movie player, the PS3 is good because of Blu Ray, but you'll be sacrificing library quality. Also, MS seems to put much more into their console than Sony. Home was announced what, 2 years ago and hasn't come out? The new live was announced a few months ago and is already out.

Even taking the PC into consideration the 360 still has far more quality exclusive titles than the PS3, If you were going to pick your console based on exclusives the PS3 would be your last pick, both the 360 and Wii have more higher rated exclusives than the PS3.

Comparing both online systems would show that the 360 has far more content in any area(demos, videos, etc..), higher rated arcade games, and more features. The only thing PSN excels in over live is in price, which certainly doesnt make PSN worth more.
