A new brief from DFC Intelligence notes that the 2.1 million units sold in its first two weeks makes the Sony PlayStation 4 the biggest launch ever for a console game system. In a series of reports over the past few months, DFC Intelligence has forecasted that the PlayStation 4 would be the number one console game system of this new generation. The successful launch of the PS4 is an indication that Sony is already establishing an early leadership position.“

"The most successful console systems of all time in terms of total hardware unit sales were the Sony PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo Wii, says DFC analyst David Cole. “The PS2 and Wii also had the record for largest initial launch sales but the PlayStation 4 surpassed both those systems.”

Sales don't lie. Sony have my respect on what they did with the PS4, it seems like they got everything right. Having said that I won't lie, the only reason I have an Xbox One is because Microsoft reversed their DRM bullshit. Like I said the day I can't trade, rent and borrow games is the day that system get's traded in.

Neither does the X1. I can see the games out for each console. So can everyone else. Spare us bragging about an advantage the X1 has that doesn't exist.

they got their ass handed to them while bragging about how great they are, learned a valuable lesson from that and are doing everything they can to not repeat the mistakes from last gen.

It's not about the launch, it's about the sales of the console 6 months after launch. I think the PS4 will continue to have sales throughout the first year as the year is dotted with high-profile game launches from both 1st party and 3rd party games that are exclusive and multiplatform.

With the amount of developers backing it as well new next gen engines, even for X1 and PC... Future is looking bright.

Its the most boring console ever released, it literally has no distinguishing features. I dont see what all the fuss is about.
