This is the real price differential between the two systems, especially since the 20gb PS3 is being discontinued. Keep in mind that both systems are for playing video games, and both offer similar graphics and functions. From amazon.com:

PS3: $599.99

XBOX 360: $399.99

The price difference between the two systems is $200.00.  Enough said. Please stop making idiot threads coming up with far-fetched reasons how the PS3 is somehow cheaper- it's just not. The price of the consoles speak for themselves.

Because he's fair. Having the most expensive PS3 and the least expensive 360 would make him as bad as all the cows who claim the 360 is more expensive.

plus if your only getting the basic premium bundle please add the price for the multiple batteries you'll be buying for your controllers....

People who think $400 is a lot for a system. I'm not one of them, but I'm sure a lot of people are perfectly fine with the exact same gaming functionality for $100 cheaper. Not everyone needs a hard-drive. Used memory card for $20 and you're good to go. Plays the exact same way as the premium or elite.

Like I said before, I bought a recharger with 4 AA's for $20. For the PS3 when the batteries die you either have to send it in to Sony or buy a new one which will cost way more than $20.

Hold up buddy, you can charge the controller, but not forever as the battery's recharge cycle is gonna blow and then you gotta shell out more money for a new one. gnutux

Is that a reason to leave it out of price comparisons? Maybe for best console over $400. But put a game in a Core it plays it the same exact way as a premium or elite.

I dont get your point. The 360 can be used for movies, videos and music. :| You can download all kinds of stuff for free with xbox live silver, and it has a dvd player, and you can rip your cds to the hard drive AND you can stream all the video and music on your PC through your console.

You can use any USB wireless adaptor on the 360, which cost $50 or less. And anyone who is going to buy an HD-DVD or BR player is either loaded or an idiot.

probably because majority want a premium.

That doesn't change the fact that a lower priced alternative is offered.

Then he should have the $500 PS3 on there, going by your philosophy.

u forgot to mention the new "elite" thats coming out costing $480 and still doesn't have all the features the PS3 has. Also the $200 Hd-dvd add on. Aside from that $400+ to see the red lights of death on a consol............NO THANKS!! After all the reports and complaints about the 180 breaking, freezing, crashing, I can't believe there are still people who think the crapbox is a better value than the PS3. LOL

the fact still remains- to play most of the exact same games (with a few exceptions, and I am not counting the really awesome 360 exclusives), you have to pay $200 more for the PS3 than the XBOX 360.

The price of the consoles speak for themselves.

cheapness1

hold on...maybe YOU wanna use your console for only games what about us guys that use our consoles for music, videos etc...

plus if your only getting the basic premium bundle please add the price for the multiple batteries you'll be buying for your controllers....

Ummmm multiple batteries wont be necessary they now make rechargeable energizer batteries you can buy the charger and batteries for under $20 at Target at least thats what I did because I have common sense to not sit there destroying our environment buy buying 20 packs of disposables.

I dont get your point. The 360 can be used for movies, videos and music. :| You can download all kinds of stuff for free with xbox live silver, and it has a dvd player, and you can rip your cds to the hard drive AND you can stream all the video and music on your PC through your console.

sorry i meant like hd-movies and video stored to hdd plus music...dude my music alone takes up about 30GB on my ps3! it ain't goin' anywhere near my 360 lol

I got well over 60GB of music... I guess I can't use the PS3 for my music.
