The real reason Demon's Souls is getting Hype.. imho

I think its because its a great looking rpg that is said to be a crazy hard challenge. Also its supposed to be a very very long game. and in a generation where the commercials for games are longer than the gameplay, its going to be a welcome change.

i think that I'm getting my money's worth when i play it, whether i sit down and play the whole thing through or spread it out over months playing off and on, i'm gettin my more than what i paid for.

it's because demon's soul is actually a good game.

Other than having a medival slant to the classes it is nothing like Diablo. The game is great and very challenging. The online play borders on revolutionary.

The people hyping this game actually own it.

Its hard but its also VERY repatitive to get to the later powers and lvl up. You have to rerun areas like 1-1 Multiple times to gather souls for upgrades.jwsoul

yeah, I remember when I played Star Wars Galaxies......I grinded until I unlocked my Jedi. Then grinded again for a year to fully ungrade all his powers. Then 6 months later the devs nerfed the entire game and my 3 years of grinding was completely trashed.darthogre

Agreed. Me you and Jandurin are the only people in the history of this world to like grinding.

Anyway that reminds me of Phantasy Star Online. Re -running Forest mulitple times so i could be able to do the other levels. Its one of the reasons why im getting this game because it reminds me of PSO yet is very very different.

I love a good challenge.

The reason it's getting hype is because the game is actually good. You know, it has been out for a few months in other parts of the world. Not only that but many people in NA imported it :o.

Hype is saved for games that aren't even out yet.

grinding is great :P as is farming. I mean, I can farm all day in a game with great loot.

I dont mind grinding if

a) the story is good and I have a reason to become powerful, like defeating a boss (think Sephiroth)

or

b) can do it in co-op with friends

And it doesnt sound like this has either. Which is why im not that excited.

Indeed. If you're grinding in 1-1, then your're most likely stuck in 1-1 :)

With the right setup, you can get a lot of souls for 1 min of work in 4-2.

I think it is because in the market ruled by casual gamers, it refuses to be "casual". Its a blantenly hardcore RPG in this market. A lot of people have been waiting for something like this.

I think its because Eurogamer gave it a 9/10 and its a PS3 exclusive that only added to the eventual System Wars hype for the game. But I agree, the game sounds interesting. One of the games i have pre-ordred and paid in full :)jg4xchamp

I think it is because in the market ruled by casual gamers, it refuses to be "casual". Its a blantenly hardcore RPG in this market. A lot of people have been waiting for something like this.

\its being hyped becuase its great I never played anygame in my whole life for more than 100 hours and I didnt finish anygame more than 2 times but I played Demon's souls for about 250 hours and finished the game 5 times.
