You're gonna be swarmed by sheep...I can't really vote since I both, agree and disagree on some things in this issue.
Since Nintendo officially anounced at E3 that they will only focus on the casual market and not hardcore gamers, lets vote to have the Wii removed from all of SW discussions since it is has been declared just a sell out to the gaming public.megaton3kWhen did they say that?
We're not taking the wii out. Fanboys are just annoyed that it's the market leader

Umm, who cares if it sells the most consoles to idiots on the street that are herded like literal "sheep" to get the Wii... It's list of games just hit a dead end since Brawl...And NO Animal Crossing is not enough...

No! I won't be able to sleep at night knowing that a bunch of fanboys won't be trying to bash my favourite console anymore on an online message board. :(

I know what you're response will be, so let me just say this. They may not appeal to you, but the games are there.

It still IS a gaming system, and it's not like the ps3 and 360 are not trying tro get into the casual marketDarkSan00
Maybe for casuals, but not for real gamers. And the 360 and PS3 is trying to reach out to them, but then turning them into REAL gamers by having them lay the countless upcoming and avilable ahrdcore games on each platform.
and a person is not a "real gamer" if they dont spend all of their time drooling over the PS3 titles that will be released 5 years from now, or all of their time playing Halo or CoD? Because they prefer to play games that are actually fun as opposed to mindless sex and violence?
By what standard is a gamer not a "real gamer". Seriously, get off your elitist high horse.

lol, tree trunks
I couldn't care less... You think that because Wii owners aren't posting regularly here they should be excluded? That just means they're playing more GAMES on their console than fighting over in a forum... ROFL
It IS true Nintendo won't be showing hardcore titles on E3 but they've NEVER used E3 as their main event to show games, they do that in GDC.
The real reason to remove the Wii would be that Miyamoto has admitted that the Wii is a toy, not a gaming system, and that Nintendo perfers it this way. If the Wii isn't considered a gaming system by Nintendo, then, much like cell phones and other "non-gaming" platforms, it really wouldn't belong on this site.
-
Announcing hardcore games wouldn't change what Nintendo considers the system to be - hence why it's better to use the above arguement.
-
For those who don't understand, the premise here is that only things that are considered by both the users involved and the company who produces them to be video games and system primarily focused on providing these games would not be relevant to the war. That is to say, we could compare Pokemon cards, Yu-Gi-Oh, cell phone users, electronic slot machines, etc as "platorms" and "systems" but if they're not really in competition, or considered to be in competition, they don't belong.
-
The counter to that would be, regardless of what Nintendo claims, the effect of the Wii is still competitive, even if it is a toy, of course arguably toys are competitive, so we're in a grey area.

but arent gaming systems toys by their nature?
but arent gaming systems toys by their nature?

No, they are powerful machines used to allow artists to create engaging interactive art pieces, many of which can fulfill, enrich, or entertain the user. Other art pieces provide a grim reflection of the ills of our society, warn of the future consequences of current government policy, allow us to explore realms of fantasy, or to engage our minds and bodies in competitive showdowns.
In short, most of the consoles are devices that, twenty years ago, were the thing of pure fantasy, and are, today, the tools of artists to create amazing works beyond what any ancient master could have hoped for - they can immerse the viewer, engage, and interact, the viewer in high-art.
-
The Wii is a toy, and that is what is most frustrating - Nintendo is advancing the kinesthetic interface solely for the purpose of mindless, meaningless distractions for the children and elderly - while missing an opportunity to reshape the world of the intellectual.

Are they?
To bring the comparison to the analog realm, there's a great deal of difference between a board 'game' like Monopoly or Risk and a toy, such as a GI Joe or a Hot Wheels set, not just in what they look like, but in how they engage the user. Should they be compared directly?
Or to look at videogames in a different light, are they more akin to books and movies? Would you directly compare a movie, even a family-friendly film like Toy Story, to what is conventionally considered a 'toy'?
Translation: The Wii and PC are leaving our asses in ruins, can we plz get rid of them for winning so much k thx?

Sure, thats what it is. There is no point in arguing, everyone can see the wii for what it is except fanboys. It is ******* trash, they made a few good traditional games to fool the loyal, and then went full speed into they master plan.
