Well its probably obvious im a sony fan but im the first too admit that sony has made many mistakes with its strategy, but i dislike M$ even more. I used to own the first xbox mainly for halo but im not a big fan of M$ and heres why.
M$ is taking the same approach they did with the software industry, meaning they are trying to monopolize it. Because of M$'s deep pockets they can literally buy out many of the gaming companies(with exceptions: EA) which reduces the already low amount of exclusives. Personally i feel that each console needs its own exclusives to help people decide which system they are going to get. Also if M$ uses their money to pay for third party exclusives, that will eventually create a monopoly in the gaming industry causing bad business for everyone since M$ wouldnt have any competition. These are just my thoughts flame me if you would like but i thik M$ approach isnt good for the industry.

I take the opposite view (even though I am a Sony fan) I think MS's willingness to dump so much money, time, and effort into this project means they're in it to win. Even if it turns out to be a monopoly, you can be assured that the product you're getting is going to be a fine one. Look how much improvement they've shown in just two generations of systems. I was an owner of the original Xbox and the only reason why I went back to Sony for the PS3 is due to hardware issues with the Xbox360. But I don't think you can argue that MS's gameplan this time around for online environment, getting the year jump start, and amassing a huge game library is anything short of brilliant. Should they iron out the hardware flaws for the next generation, I have no doubt I'll be owning one of their systems again.

Powerhouses like MS and Sony cause companies like Nintendo to be innovative: it's hard to compete directly with them (gamecube), thus the Wii is born. Blessings in disguise?

The only reason why I dislike Microsoft is because Rare games sell so poorly.

They have done everything else right.

it seems more like they want more money. like for the 360 you have to use 360 thing common microsoft this is nextgen we want blutooth and 2.4gh controllers dont mix with my wirless and 2.4gh phone. also it easy for 3rd party dev to make there own controlers becuae they just need bluthooth were microsoft has not started leaseing it yet so it has to be usb.

Exclusives are evil, I don't want to have to sacrifice certain games I want to play because they are on a different console. And I don't want to have to buy all three, then I have no money for games

Well that's obvious. Why else are they in this business? For money. I assume Sony is after the same thing. That being said, if they're able to put out such an impressive system, I'd gladly fork over my hard-earned dough. The rest of your post degenerates into some mixture of slang and English so I won't be able to clearly decipher it. As for 3rd party controllers, both the PS3 and the Xbox360 have wireless 3rd party controllers despite their use of different wireless technologies so I'm not sure what you're talking about there.

So do you have a working 360 now? Or is it in for repairs? And what games to you play/want for it?

I say coming from someone who really didn't like the original Xbox, and now owns 360, they are doing a good job.

They all want the biggest market share as possible and it's never good when any company gets it. Nintendo wasn't exactly great for 3rd parties when they were #1 (charged high royalties) and the reason Sony thinks they can use the PS3 to win the format war against hd-dvd and charge $600 for the PS3 is because they were #1 when they planned the system.

I returned my defective console (twice) to Costco back when they had their lifetime warranty. The warranty has since been changed to a 90 day one. I had Gears, Madden, Marvel, and COD3. I hope to pick one up again after May (the rumors of the cooler running Zephyr have me intrigued) and I especially look forward to Mass Effect. (I enjoyed the original Halo a lot but was a bit disappointed by Halo 2 so Halo 3 doesn't interest me as much as Mass Effect does. All screen shots/trailers that I've seen thus far are just amazing)

I'm not sure how much they need to pay to get more games, onsidering that 2 of this gens biggest games got to appear on the 360 because of Sony. I'm talking about GTA4 and Assasin's Creed.

So what if there nabbing up Dev studios... Big game companies do the same thing.

So what if there paying Dev's to make games for there system... Big game companies do the say thing.

Its the world of games... The cost is high. $60 a pop, you can't mess up or you sink and die.

Microsoft is trying their best to succeed and who wins? Us... The gamers.

Monopolies are never a good thing no matter what company has it. Monopolies mean a company will get lazy because they can. They can spend less money and invest less time in it. If you want to look at an example just have a look at Microsofts operating systems. I just use MS OS but even I admit they are incredibly lazy. They have ripped off OSX and some of the Linux packages GUI designs. They have added a ribbon bar to the office applications but that is hardly an incredible leap forward. It also annoys the crap out of me that they have yet to follow W3C standards for Internet Explorer, as a web developer this can be a time consuming annoyance. Vista still has security leaks as well. They can do all this crap because they have a 90+% market share so they really dont have to bother much really. Now imagine if they had a monopoly in gaming, does not sound pretty does it. A gaming monopoly would be bad if any company had it.

I don't want any of the big 3 to ever have a monopoly over the gaming industry, and the one company that has the money and power to have one is definitely MS. I don't mind if MS becomes the industry leader, but do you really think they are just going to stop there? The answer is HELL NO, and you can see that with their operating systems because there is hardly any competition which only hurts us, the consumer. The same exact thing would happen to the gaming industry. And don't say well they are producing and getting all these great games now and will continue to in the future, and wouldn't it be great to just own 1 console. Most games would end up pretty much the same, just marginal improvements over its predecessor (good ex. Madden). Seriously, MS would also either come out with a new system every 3 years or just marginally improve their product because their is no competition which means their is no incentive to innovate or make their product better. And you would have to buy it, or you just give up playing video games.

I hate to say this cause I'm a wii owner, but look at the games on the wii right now. Since it is the only system out that can do what it can do, developers are throwing sloppy ports and crap games at it right now. There is no incentive for developers to actually try to make a great game because they know people will buy it or just have no games for the system. Hopefully Nintendo can raise the bar with Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and SSBB and show these lazy developers how to make a game from the ground up for the wii.
