Since i havent gone next-gen yet, i would like to know, how worried should i be about the red rings of death, when getting a 360.... the ps2 with its disc read errors truly annoys me... exactly 46% of my ps2games wont work anymore, so i truly would be pissed when the rings of death would come to annoy me... Is there an actual statistics of how many 360-s get the rings?

My xbox got them today after over a year and a half. I did the towel trick, but I'll send it in to MS asap.

Don't worry 'bout it. As long as you get the warranty, you're good for 3 years. Are you just worried about the hassle of sending the 360 in and waiting for a new one?

They won't say, but C'mon, you got a 1 year warranty on the system, 3 years specifically on the red rings. It's an annoyance for sure, but worry? Not really, after several Xboxes/PS2s, I guess I just expect my consoles to break, therefore the first thing I did was pay the $59.99 to get a 3 year warranty on anything that may break on the system.

First and foremost, sorry about the thread, didnt realize there is one already, so please dont moderate me, and just close the topic without anyone getting hurt okay? please?

But seriously, its okay when it happens once, two is already annoying, but anything beyond that seems just ......
people say you get free stuff, when you send back your 360 ( a game and free XBL for a while ) well, thats the good bit of it....

That doesnt fix the problem now does it? And it is an inconvenience to have to be sending it off in the first place, if it worked like it was meant to you shouldn't have to send it off.

I get worried every time I start hearing strange sounds from my 360 that it is about to have a heart attack and die.

Hold off until xmas. Ps3 will have a lower priced unit. PS3 has less than 2% failure rate. I don't know MS' exactly but I' pretty sure itsaround 33%. BIG difference. Plus, you won't be ditching all of those PS2 games. And the titles have started rolling in for PS3 and it will not slow down.

Yeah there's nothing to worry about. They just have so many units coming in that it takes over 6 weeks now to get one fixed. Why are there so many? Because that many have broken and that many people are so scared they've sent their unbroken 360's in too. Its a circus.

Maybe they'd let you go visit your 360.

Wow you just let companies walk over you dont you? When something I spent my hard earned cash on breaks I just go somewhere else unless it is a one off then I might stay. But when several consoles break?

You can't be that ignorant. Well, maybe you can. You gotta love lemmings. They have an uncanny ability to not see past July 2007. They think that lead start is going to save them this goaround. But guess what. PS3 woke up and is pissed. Head for the hills, lems.

Get the Elite. I believe its failure rate is below even the PS3's or wait for the Falcon 360.

I'm still on my launch 360 which I've been lucky enough to have had no faults with, so it's almost 2 (bless it)

Mine hasn't broken. I'd wait until the new chips come in, though.

haha I can be as ignorant as I damnw ell please thank you. I have played the wii, but havent gotten around to the PS3. Right now im in college and dont have much money. I have the 360 and its all Im going to be able to afford. On top of that it has more then enough games for my satisfaction.

Maybe im not a hardcore gamer, but I do know what is fun and what is not, and the 360 has definantly been fun.

I thought that i shouldnt post this thread to systemwars, because it would turninto a cow vs lemming thing, i thought i shouldnt post it in the 360 forums, because i would only get replys that say get the phucking 360 already, if i wouldve post it into the ps3 forums i would have gotten replys that say the 360 is bad get the phucking ps3 already......

*goes to the wii forums *

I wouldn't get one yet if I were you. It'zs certainly a very good system, but until they fix the reliability issue I'd warn anyone away. As soon as the new chipsets and whatever else technological majicks are being used, then that'll be a good time to get one.

Sounds just like MS' plan. Makes everyone REAL confident. "We don;t know why the over heat issue has occurred, but this new chip will fix it. That and some pixie dust. Come spend you money here!" Weak sauce.
