Yeah, I know that they are not economically worth it for gaming alone, but if you have other uses for the Mac OS, gaming over boot camp is just a bonus.

And Guess what? It can max skyrim at 1080P! With the 650m!

Found this video on youtube showcasing it. I also tried it myself, and found consistent results.

At 25fps. http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-650M.71887.0.html

Also, if you are getting a $2199 laptop with 2880x1880 resolution, but only get to play games at 1920x1080 with lag maxed out, when you could be getting a laptop with a GTX 680M for $750 cheaper (Sager), then you are doing something wrong.

PS: GTX 680M allows you to play Skyrim at 1080p, x8AA x 16AF (completely unnecessary AA) while staying consistently between 59-60fps. Paying significantly more money for half the gaming performance is typical Mac logic. Use your Mac for other things, but when you claim it's good for gaming then I laugh at you.

If you're rocking 1920x1200, 2x or 4x AA is mroe than enough. 8x is just damn overkill.

I know. No need to go over 4. I always put x2. The performance cost is way too high.

There is actually no need to use MSAA for Skyrim at all. Use the FXAA injector. Virtually no performance cost and some of the custom filters made for Skyrim actually make the game look better.

That doesn't really matter. When you get to those uber high resolutions, you don't really see a difference. No point in trying to hit the highest res possible.

Yeah, In person, it looks pretty damn good. I am not saying that the Retina Macbook Pro is the best laptop for gamers, but for somebody like me who uses it for other uses only available on OS X, the ability to game is a great bonus.

Really? I figured 1080p would look blurry on such a high res screen. Then again, I've never used that high res of a screen before. Still way too expensive for a machine that has less programs, less customization ability, and less support all around.

It's still a 15-inch screen, so the dpi is still going to be higher than most desktop screens, aka. less blurry.

That's the cheaper version. The more expensive version has double the SSD at $2800. Chances are a lot of people who buy every Mac product will think that double the storage space will make the computer run faster or something and get that instead.

How can you say max settings when you listed 1920x1200? 2880x1800 is the max res so you have to run Skyrim at that res to see it!!

Garbage product in the shadow of MS Surface. I see it all the time now, people jumping off the apple ship. They make a mediocre product wrapped in a nice package with fantastical marketing and stupid proof OS that crashes more than any one apple fan will admit.

Still overprice as f*ck. People just jump to apple because they think it's cool to have an expensive product. Beside the design, Apple has nothing. If you want a real high quality, go with thinkpad, the one which endurance is proven and can even be used in space.

New Macbook Pro uses 650M, which is a decent mid range card. It won't be able to run anything mroe advanced on retina, but on lower res and after lowering some of the settings it does pretty well, at least if you play in Windows (OSX is much less optimized for 3D than Windows is). Of course, it can't compare to many PC laptops, but it still does decently

Are you people stupid? Say what you want about the new Macbook Pro, but it isn't overpriced.

Find me a laptop with comparable specs that is less significantly than that (thinness and build quality included). Apple did some pretty cool stuff to cram everything in there.

thing is though heres the kicker, macbook pro's aint really gaming devices to begin with.

You'll find its mostly people in media industries that will opt for them especially the music industry macs are more a standard bit of kit in studios these days.
