The Sims 3 is the worst optimized game that I've ever seen.

My brother got Sims 3 with it's expansions recently. I decided to play that game a little for a nostalgia trip that I had with Sims 1.(Which I played a lot when I was a child)

It was a huge mistake.

My PC has GTX 970 graphic card, 8 GB DDR 3 ram and Intel Core i7 4790K but Sims 3(a 2009 game) has lots and lots of stutterings.

When you decide to go out to a park(Or anywhere), the game stutters.

when you select build the game stutters.

When you select the camera to follow your character when he moves around it stutters.

when you move around the camera the game stutters.

When you decide to do something the game stutters.

It was a huge mistake, he should have gotten Sims 2 instead.

Why Sims 3 got high scores even though that it's the worst optimized game that I've ever played in my life ? (I think super computers from 2025 will be able to run this game stutter free)

Well that's just wrong. Better be careful, someone might think you're an unoriginal troll.

No, that's what you get from EA.

My sister played it for a long time on her (1366x768 res) laptop with modest i5 and GT 640m until she moved over to The Sims 4. I don't recall her The Sims 3 install stuttering.

Graphics card don't really matter for the sims 3. I've been playing it since 2009 and I maxed out the graphics on an 8800 GTX+ & single processor performance is key to getting it to run smoothly. I'm not sure if someone already pointed out but the problem with Sims 3 isn't that it requires a good graphics card or anything like that, It's that with all the damn Expansion content the installation gets so bogged down that it takes forever to just load all the assets required to actually start the game and by saying that, even having to have the best PC hardware won't fix Sims 3.

I've heard that the main problem is the NPCs that get stuck in the environment and slow the game down.

This is accurate yeah among it's many other issues. The default routing for sims was terribly done by EA and they get stuck all the time, the game then tries to work out a route for them but constantly fails to do so. More sims get stuck more routes to try to work out and it soon screws with the game as your CPU resources are used up. There are fixes including downloading the worlds from a sims modder (EllaCharmed) who has fixed the routing and a number of NRAAS mods (overwatch and errortrap at the least) that also cleans up the various mess that the game itself leaves behind.

Long story short, EA were terrible at making this game and it takes a lot of work just to get it to run well without lots of issues.

Yeah, it was made by interns. That's what you get when you outsource a game to the lowest common denominators of your development team.

I don't know if I like Sims 3 that much since having no loading screens is too weird .(But character creation is better)

Nah, that award goes to Gears of War: Definitive Edition for me. Never played a PC port that crappy in all my life.

Yes, it's even worse than Saint's Row 2, as that was eventually fixed by mods. Gears of War: DE doesn't allow modding so it's crap forever.

Game runs at 120 fps one moment, 30 fps the next. Even when there is loads of stuff going on, sometimes it would run at 120fps, the next moment there is nothing going on and it keeps dipping below 60fps. No reason, the game just hates you, that's why.

I tried running the game a three different resolutions and the performance is crap on all of them. This is unlike any other game I've ever played. It just doesn't run like you would expect a game to run.

@pcmasterrace69: well this game is popular for having performance issues.(Which is why there are even some mods to make it better)

As for Xbox 360 version, I think it's because it's a completely different game on a different engine compared to the PC version.

Shouldn't that be a positive for PC gaming, that it can cater to the tastes of anyone as it has something for everyone. Not sure I'd call DotA "casual" but I don't play it.

There's nothing wrong with playing "casual" games such as The Sims. The Metro games are consolized too. Yet, you love them to death.

Why do you think they put the loading screens back in Sims 4, their game engine is a pile of shit. Not only that people have to mod the game to get rid of bugs that they never fix,

I've seen a mod that enables the AI scripts to be multi threaded so they don't hang where there are too many NPCs, obviously that shit is too hard for EA to write themselves.

The Sims 3 is an amazing game, but it just doesn't work well... I followed guides and people to build a 'perfect' PC to run it and all EPs at max settings with minimal issues. Even then, it didn't. It runs better than on my old PC, but that PC was a nightmare to play the game on, so...

Still I see people who run it with no issues and brag about it and say "It's so simple". This is why I hate PC gaming. I spent a lot of money on that stupid PC with research and it didn't. It's not simple.

OP I agree. The Sims games are special when it comes to optimization. Even my 980ti struggles a bit yet can run the most demanding game in its sleep.

That overwatch removes tones of stuff from the game for every 1 game day.(It removed 80 vehicles per day today when my brother was playing it.)
