The Sims 3 no longer a PC exclusive

February 10, 2010- EA's incredibly popular game,The Sims 3, will be coming to consoles and handhelds in 2010.

EA recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of the people simulation that allows gamers to control people (sims) and feed them, educate them, build houses for them and advance them through work, love and life. The game was a major hit across all sex and age groups and it's no surprise that the title will be coming to consoles given its popularity and the number of gamers that can be reached through console and handheld gaming.

EA hasn't released any details aboutThe Sims 3for consoles and handhelds other than signifying on their 2011 Fiscal calendar that "The Sims 3 on Console Title" would be coming during the 3rd Fiscal Quarter of 2011, which translates to the Holiday season.

I think it's a good move. I'm not a Sims fan, but i'm sure there are some of them on consoles.

They should port it to Wii!

The PC version will own no matter what. I can't see myself playing the sims with a controller. Same goes for real time strategy games.

Is it going to be the same version or will it be another case of the same name but not everything the pc version has? Only time will tell.

And will these be console ports of the PC version, or console versions of the idea built from the ground up based on ideas created for the PC version? Hard to say that "The Sims 3 no longer a PC exclusive" with so little details regarding these console/handheld versions.

This is news? Hasn't every sims game gone to consoles? I sure wouldn't play it on console. No user created skins and objects.

PC version might as well remain exclusive if my memory of the sims on consoles serve me right.

We'll see if it can be compared. They brought The Sims to the PS2 and Gamecube and handhelds before, and they were always really stripped down.

Not even close to the PC version.

I hope they dont strip out features to make it console friendly like they did with Sims 1 & 2 for consoles. Those games were just terrible because they took out most of the building, the items, the freedom, EVERYTHING that made it Sims :Pnavyguy21

One of the few games I'd actually want to try out mods for on pc...if I was ever a fan of the series.

Other than sales which is always the big picture for devs apparently, it seems pointless to make a port. It'll be so limited

This is one PC exclusive that I don´t really mind seeing it go to the consoles. Never liked the franchise myself.

TBH, I had a good time with The Sims on PC and The Sims: Bustin Out on the old Xbox so sure, bring it on. :oops:

Depends on people's definition of the same game, may be something custom made to run on consoles but just using the Sims 3 name.

That said The Sims didn't do too well on the previous generation consoles, largely I expect due to their limitations in regard to expansion packs. Whether that will pose a problem this generation we will have to wait and see.

EA would try to port this to a game advance if they had access to the userbase.

Forgive me if I'm out of the loop folks...But would a game that's on both the PC and Mac be considered exclusive to the PC? Even if they played the same? I'm thinking no.

yeah, the personal computer usually refers to both windows and mac games in terms of gaming because of their similarity. the use of pc vs mac in the Operating system wars is a whole different story though.

careful guys they probably expect an extremely delayed game to sell well because it was popular when first released. theyll probably go cliffy b gears of war pc on you if sales arent good enough lol
