Let me preface this by saying I’ve been a part of the System Wars community for a long time, and one of the memories that stays clear in my mind is signature request threads, usually organized by AdobeArtist. Due to my lurker status, I never felt like it was appropriate for me to request something be created for me, but I relished in all of those users that had the terrific sigs created just for them.

At that time I was still in high school and I always thought it would be pretty awesome to learn to use Photoshop and create my own look someday. It wasn’t until I went back to college for my second degree that I found the opportunity to dive into the world of graphic design. In the end, I acknowledge that it was primarily Gamespot and System Wars that took me down this path. I couldn’t be happier!

I want to give back to the community, to strengthen System Wars. My hope is to give an identity to users who feel they are struggling to have their voice heard and to bring the flair and fashion for all the users. And just maybe we’ll liven up System Wars a little bit in the process.

HOW TO REQUEST

• Theme: what you want your sig to showcase - i.e. a specific game, tv show, movie, etc.
• Desired Text: if applicable; what text you want in the design. please note lots of text is difficult to work with in Gamespot's crummy sig size, meaning text could be changed or left out
• Desired Imagery: if applicable; images you would like us to use. please note designers may just use this image as a basis for inspiration
• Designer Requests:You may want to request a specific designer do your signature. At the moment, we'll allow such requests. If we receive too many requests like these, ignoring designers or creating too large of a workload for specific designers, we will ignore these requests. Please note that your wait time may be longer when requesting specific designers.

Apologies everyone, but requesting gifs for sigs will not be a normal occurrence. Gamespot requires a file size of no more than 500mb for the signatures, and large animation is just too much. I'll see if I can accommodate those requests, but unfortunately I cannot promise anything.

HOW THIS WORKS

Once you post your request, you’ll be added to the waitlist in the order you posted. You’ll move up through it as designers accept projects, generally in order but not always. A designer may PM you about your design. Once completed, you’ll be sent your signature and removed from the project list.

USER REQUIREMENTS

• Must have at least 500 posts
• Must be at least 3 months old

The designers listed below are all volunteers and work when their schedules allow. There may often be projects in the waitlist with only one of us taking on projects. Please be patient and we’ll work to get your requests completed in a timely manner.

SWSW – System Wars Sig Wagers

Everyone remembers System Wars Bets! Oh, the fun that was had by many! Unfortunately, it had some problems. Along with the Sig Request thread, we’re going to enact “Sig Wagers,” a new way to test your faith in your predictions by risking your System Wars identity!

It’s all very simple! You can make your own personal wagers versus what you think Gamespot will score a game, or maybe you want to challenge a user’s assumptions and have him put his sig where his mouth is.

• Each party must agree upon the wager for it to be recorded
• Winner of the wager requests the sig design for the loser
• Loser of the wager must wear the designed sig for designated time
• User accounts must have at least 500 posts
• User accounts must be at least 3 months old
• Must follow Gamespot’s Terms of Use
• Gamespot mods can call off any SWSW
• No money, currency, or physical items can be exchanged. This is strictly Gamespot forum signatures and avatars.
• Keep it fun, keep it classy

EXAMPLE WAGERS

Personal Wager

- Zassimick wagers his signature that Persona 5 will release this year. If it does not, I’ll change my sig to a “Persona Sucks” signature.

Versus Wager

- Zassimick challenges charizard1605 to a wager that Persona 5 will release this year. If it does release in 2016, charizard1605 will adorn a “Xbox One > Playstation 4” signature. If it does not release in 2016, Zassimick will wear a “I <3 Chie” signature. The user will have the sig for 30 days.

If it does not, I will wear a "Captain Toad >>> Sony" signature + avy (with a Captain Toad theme OR any other Nintendo IP he may pick). The user will have the sig for 30 days.

As far as text, just my user name, tastefully done in the spirit of bravely default. I put complete faith in the talent in the artist s doing this. Thanks in advance btw.

Done, make sure you save it to imgur, tumblr, photobucket or w/e so you can have a copy, I usually clean my save folder of sigs/work every week/month.

@n64dd: Order up! Images can be found here to download to your computer and then upload to Gamespot yourself. This was my first time creating a gif from scratch. I also worked to capture the font of the Bravely Default title. Hope you like it!

EDIT: If you have a specific character out of those four below that is a favorite, let me know and I could make that your avatar instead of your name if you prefer (if you want to use a different avatar at all.) ^_^

I want sig of Doom and shadow warrior 2 combine like i have currently with my username also written over and would be animated.

But I just can not get it at 600x125 and use it as a sig without it looking

a) really bad or

b) way too small and lacking any detail

My paint skills are limited, but perhaps someone with Photoshop skills can give it a try ?

I would love a sig that incorporates Stardust Speedway from Sonic CD. Then put my user name somewhere. That would be so cool if someone could hook that up. I would even throw in a gaming related gift card of the persons choice if it's real sweet.

Very nice work on N64DD's sig Zass.

I'd like to be put in the list for a Shenmue 3 gif sig with Ryo and Shenhua in a bamboo forest or something. Could even have the dragon and phoenix mirrors in it too maybe. Possibly a moving waterfall or a setting/rising sun in the background. Small but see able text with my user name. Something truly epic. A masterpiece the likes that have never been seen before.

You (first) or Legend002 (second) doing it would be my preference if possible.

And I put you on the list with the note of preferred designer. We'll see how requests for designers go; if it's a not-too-common thing we should be okay as long as you realize your wait time may be a little longer. :)

@Zassimick: I do have several questions:

1. Are you taking any request for any tips & tricks on any hype threads with great photo-shooting themes as well like you did for Twilight Princess HD hype thread making it cooler like you did? I'm currently brainstorming on my upcoming Quantum Break hype thread.
2. Were can I learn to do sigs themes so I can help those who wants cool sigs in OT [Off-Topic] since I think OT can use someone like me who also post over there a lot and thank you Z.

@Zassimick: Thanks bro. I'm in no hurry, and you don't need to incorporate all that in the sig, lol. Nothing too fancy, just giving you some ideas of what I might like.

@davillain-: Let's rap about this!

1. Requests for hype threads - for this question do you mean act like a consult or help create the design? I would say yes to both, though if you need help designing the thread's headers I would need a list of what you specifically need as well as time. :P
2. Many designers have self-taught themselves Photoshop or Gimp through reading articles and watching Youtube videos. When I need to learn how to do a specific look, like the sketch look of the Sig Request banner, I Google'd it and followed step by step. This is a great way to get started, though Photoshop is incredibly intimidating at first. I took two years of Graphic Design courses when I went back to university for my second degree, so that's how I've learned. The best advice I can give you is to just jump in and try to do your thing! I would be happy to provide any constructive feedback on your designs.

Gif gives me problem. We are going to have to rely on Zass with this one.

Most of the stuff I do will look almost identical as they are from the same template. It saves me time. XD

Those are just requests, ultimately it's obviously up to you guys how you want to make it. I'm just giving a rough idea of what I think might look cool. I'm sure whatever you design will be awesome, so... no pressure :P

Aye, I'm one of those self taught people who uses Gimp and when I was first learning how to do sigs I used youtube lol (although a lot of guides are now 2+ years old). As for gifs in sigs, I'm gonna leave that to Zass cause I cannot do them at all XD lol.

If you want to first learn how to do sigs I'd suggest going with Gimp (a lot faster to learn) and once you are comfortable I'd go with photoshop which you can do a lot more with.

Oh, you know. Work is just crazy for me at this time of year as we work to line up next year. I work for a nonprofit and I'm a one-man marketing department. Keeps me on my toes. :P

So... because Gamespot is dumb-dumb, they put a cap on their sig sizes. 600x125 for dimensions, 500mb max data size limit. Unfortunately, not matter how hard I tried I could not get the scrolling of the city to work while keeping the file size down. I compromised, making the city more visible in the final shot. Also got you the Ringabel avy you requested.

I hope this all works out for you! I now know not to spend the incredible amount of time on animated gifs for Gamespot... :'(

@khoofia_pika: made two versions, the "You exist because we allow it. You will end because we demand it." was actually pretty big and made the sig(s) look funny. If there's anything you want me to change let me know and I'll fix it tonight :P. Also it was a pain in the arse to find a decent Garrus render XD

:edit note: the sig with garrus the phrasing is off/blurry so if you want that one I'll fix it later tonight.

Oh look everyone, it's the Anime hater, requesting a Witcher 3 sig. Get over it, I totally love the fck out of Witcher 3 as well, but the game isn't for everyone so if Legend didn't like it, that's his lost but you didn't need to rub it in on him Fire Man. Just face it, Legend is better then you!
