I want one when they make a home (non-tablet) version that doesn't melt in the dock if you play it all day.
Does it really do that?

There have been multiple reports of that I'v read online, the tablet "warping" in the dock because of heat.
https://www.technobuffalo.com/2017/04/03/nintendo-switch-console-warping-bending/
Probably somewhat isolated. But I'm one that would play it like 99% in the dock, so if there is an issue I'm the type of gamer that would be impacted. People that play it more as a tablet might not have this issue from the sounds of things, just when it's in the dock.
@2Chalupas: It doesn't come anywhere near the temperature needed to warp plastic. Don't believe everything you read and then go around spreading that false information.
I want one but I'm afris it can explode and cause a nuclear reaction. I've seen a YouTube video about it.
@Pedro: I think you're confusing the Switch with the Xbone.
I think your confused, it's the POS4 that get hot enough to cook on, the xbox one runs nice and cool!
Your reading comprehension is worse than your grammar. Try again to follow what was said. Maybe actually read the posts.
It doesn't melt lmao
Warping, not melting, But it sounds possibly heat related. Reading the article it seems like a few reports of it happening even for players that play it handheld. But the majority claim it was in the dock.
Played a brief session of Zelda last night at work. The unit was humming, I was like wtf is that noise, the fan had kicked in although I was in handheld mode. Never done that before :D
Looks like it could be a mediocre console once it gets more than one game
This, until they get handheld devs on board making it a true hybrid console/handheld. Switch is still officially WiiU 2.
@Pedro: I think you're confusing the Switch with the Xbone.
No, I think you are the one confused. Switch has games.......LMAO.
3 months in... year 1 is looking good considering.
Yea sure, nobody expects it to be have a wide variety of 3rd party games found on the other systems, but it will have a large 3rd party library unique to it by the end of its life span...
This is the DS range now on steroids capable of both style games... and so far its looking good.
I have 14 games already on it and love it. Best first year I have ever seen for a system. Already reserved Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Mario Odyssey, Xeno Blade 2 Splatoon 2, and Fire Emblem Warriors all due this year. That will be at least 19 games for me in the first 9 months. Not a bad first year.
All "3D" Nintendo consoles ( though Switch is not a console ) were appealing in the past at some points with some epic games. The issue with all those consoles though were that Nintendo was pulling the plug way earlier than they should with two last generations being to extreme.
With that being said thats my issue with Nintendo consoles since forever. Having a burst of excellent games then waiting for ages to play a good game if forever then slowly console going into life support is QQ.
I only have Zelda and Mario Kart as of now, but the second half of the year is going to be pretty damn good with Rocket League, Mario Rabbids, FIFA, Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, and Skyrim. If I were you, I'd wait until around the holiday season to pick one up (assuming you can find one).
It's shaping up to be a nifty little device.
I'll get one when they release an updated version with better battery life.
Might as well just save $100 and buy a WiiU with zelda, as all the Switch is is a zelda machine for the next few years.
This.
The Switch is awesome when you are not interested in playing games frequently. It the best system for people who play games once every six months.
Yup, all that compelling content releasing on Xbox One these past 6 months...
It's a system to get that's for sure- based off what's coming in the next year+. Nintendo is finally stepping up their game after what I would call their biggest software lull in their history.
I got one a month ago because we agreed we would get one the next time we saw it on a store shelf, and that was the time. I only have Zelda and Mario Kart, and I'll get Mario Odyssey at launch. Rocket League and Skyrim will be late year/ early 2018 pickups. Not rushing for those ones though because of the backlog.
It's looking good...but I'm still not sold. I'm going to wait at least a few months (maybe until 2018) to consider getting one. I already played Zelda and I'm really interested in Super Mario Odyssey...but what I'm really waiting is the new Metroid, the new Pokemon and maybe even a new Smash or Bayonetta.
Until then, is looking solid...bit not quite for me.
Both Switch and XBone S are currently significantly cheaper on UK Amazon than US. WTF? When did that start happening? I'm sure consoles used to be pricier in Britain.
On topic, the games lineup's looking pretty good, yes. Hopefully I can track down someone with a Switch by the time Mario Odyssey comes out. They'd better have ARMS and Zelda too, or else...
Its cute that people are pretending that the Switch library is compelling. Its best selling games are WiiU ports. LOL. Sounds like the WiiU is still the better and cheaper option.
Are you forgetting Mario Odyssey? I bet it gets a 9.5 or better. Zelda is already a 10 (better graphics than Wii U version) and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is sure to deliver a high quality and memorable JRPG experience. The thing about Nintendo games is that they give you pure joy and are always top notch quality.
Also how comes people cry about backwards compatibility with Playstation but ignore it with Nintendo?
Because people are biased wit Nintendo. That's why BotW automatically got 10's across the board. It's also why they don't care that The Switch is only capable of good last gen graphics best case scenario.
@valgaav_219: It didn't automatically get 10s, it deserved the 10s it got. You take your time, put your heart into development, and it pays off in the end. Just like GTA gets 10s, because it's the best game in that genre. The best games of their genre's deserve 10s. GTA is the best sandbox adventure game, Zelda is the best action RPG game, Mario is the best platformer, Metal Gear is (was) the best stealth game.....so they get 10s, that's how it works. Graphics haven't mattered since last gen, it's just something people like to hold onto when they have no good games to play.
