Video Games are a form of entertainment no matter how you look at it. In my opinion games are the best form of entertainment media ever, now don't get me wrong, I love going to the movies with my friends and stuff, I also like listening to music and watching television shows and all other types of entertainment. But IMHO gaming for me is a whole different level of entertainment. The sheer experience and immersion you get from gaming is experienced differently to that of movies for me, I feel connected with the character I'm playing as, and the decisions I make with the character in specific situations determines whether that character lives or dies . Now some may argue that from an emotional stand point, the sheer dept of immersing the audience of an Oscar worthy film is unmatched, I agree to this, but video games aren't that far off. I mean look at Metal Gear Solid 4, the production value, the acting, the action easily rivals the best a Summer Blockbuster has to offer, not to mention Mass Effect, Uncharted 2 and the upcoming Heavy Rain which are said to be blurring the lines even thinner between games and movies.

But the comparison between Video Games and movies is not what this thread is about, this is about listing the greatest games that you have ever experienced in your lifetime. I have been playing video games for approximately 15 years and there are some games that have I have played that I will remember forever, the top ten are:

#1

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME-----------NINTENDO 64.

#2

METAL GEAR SOLID---------PLAYSTATION ONE.

#3

SUPER MARIO 64--------- NINTENDO 64.

#4

METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS--------- PLAYSTATION 3.

#5

007 GOLDENEYE------ NINTENDO 64.

#6

GRAND THEFT AUTO III---------PC.

#7

HALF LIFE 2--------PC.

#7

GRAND THEFT AUTO SAN ANDREAS---------PC.

#8

UNCHARTED 2 AMONG THIEVES----------PLAYSTATION 3.

#9

LITTLE BIG PLANET-------------PLAYSTATION 3.

#10

CALL OF DUTY 4 MODERN WARFARE---------------PC.

So there they are, my top ten best games I have ever played. Each providing a unique experience that is unmatched. I know that some of you may not agree with my listing but feel free to express your opinions.

So what are your top ten games that YOU ever played?.......:)

I'm not sure if I'll do any order, but: Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Starcraft, Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars, Lego Star Wars II, Dragon Ball: Origins, Soul Calibur II, Donkey Kong Country, and Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. There are others too, but those are ten of the best I've played above.

1. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - I was playing this when I was three years old, its the first thing I can ever remember playing. I completed it with my dad when I was around 5, but that was more him doing the work than me. God knows how many times I have completed it since, but I can never get bored of it. Its a timeless classic.

2. Halo C.E (XBOX) - Another game I completed with my dad, but this time I was able to carry him through the levels. I didnt really game at all last generation, but Halo was one of the couple of games I did play. I consequently spent a lot of time in multiplayer, the last shooter I played was Perfect Dark.

3. Chrono Trigger (DS) - I completed this game on two immense sittings whilst house watching over summer. My girlfriend was not amused ;) Everything about it was awesome, and I wish it had come to PAL regions on the SNES :(

4. Super Mario Galaxy (WII) - I tried to play this on christmas day while the family was over, but I couldnt really appreciate it. When I finally settled into it, it reminded me why I love gaming.

5. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Oh god, I waited for this game for years! I saved up my pocket money for so long to get the shiny gold £60 cart, and when I got home the weather was nice and my mum made me go outside and play. :( I remember finishing the game a long time after getting it, and ... just wow. Everything about the world was epic, I had never seen anything like it before.

6. Doom (PC) - I wasnt allowed to play this when I was a kid - I had to be sneaky and play it when my parents werent around :D I think I got further than my dad ever did, though.

7. Micro Machines V3 (PS1) - Oh god, I thought this was better than Mario Kart back in the day! With the multitap, the game was immense and chaotic. The best kind of multiplayer fun!

8. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC) - Coming from Halo to this was awesome. Im not a competetive FPS kind of guy. I prefer action adventure games, platformers, that kind of stuff. But this blew me away, playing four way matches in my student house, all crowded around the dining room table. It was freezing, cos we couldnt afford any heating, and we sat there in dressing gowns and blankets with tea and cheese toasties. Sounds lame, but it was awesome for us :P

9. Guitar Hero 1 and 2 (PS2) - Im kinda burnt out on the series now, but I was introduced to it by my girlfriend. When we ran out of money and got bored in her halls, we used to play this solidly. I couldnt even do it on easy! Learning was fun, but my gf is still better than me :P

10. Super Mario World (SNES) - I came home from school once, and there was a shabby cardboard box sitting on my desk. I had a peek inside, and there was a second hand SNES with Super Mario World on it that my mum had bought for me (I got the SNES pretty late into its life). I had only ever played on my dads NES before. I was understandably extatic. I remember I had to wait for my dad to come home and set it up for me, so I went to the shop for my mum to get some groceries. I ran all the way there in the rain, and all the way back, just to look at the yellowing plastic, and the cartridge :P

Sorry for all the stories. I guess I follow gaming trends quite a bit, but meh. I was only a kid, really, and I didnt start playing properly until this gen. So :P

1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - I remember playing this bad boy when i was like 7 years old. The game was amazing and very difficult for me at the time. It felt like the game would never end! Those hands that fall from the ceiling and zombies used to scare me ****less when i was young. haha

2. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - IMO this is the most underapreciated zelda game of all time. Sometimes a wonder which is better between this and OOT. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is great, and the whole world is charming and filled with things to do all the time.

3. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - This is the MGS game that got me introduced to the series and it was an unforgettable experience. The storyline was great, the graphics were amazing, and the game kept me wanting more at all times. I hate how people complain about Raiden as the main character but this game wouldnt be the same game it is today if it wasnt for him.

4. Uncharted 2: Amoung Thieves - Even though the game has only been out for a week its probaly one of the best action games of all time. This game has it all, an amazing story, perfect script, amazing graphics and sound, this game just blows you away one scene after another. My PS3 got the YLOD so i cant wait to enjoy it more when i fix it.

5. Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt Double pack - First game ive ever played, I could either be searching for the princess just to find out that ***** is in another castle or be standing infront of the screen with my light gun shooting ducks. Such good memories.

6. Sonic & Knuckles - Hands down the greatest sonic game of all time and one of my favorite platformers of all time. This was the best game to ever release on the sega genesis imo. I still have my copy to this very day. (now i wish i knew where the hell i put my genesis!)

7. Grand Theft Auto 3 - The first great reason to own a ps2. Whats more fun then stealing a fast car then going around the corner to pick up a hooker and have sex then beat her just to get your money back? Nothing! Before this game i havent been wowed by anything in years.

8. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - The game that concludes snakes story could not have been any better. This game has the best boss fights ive ever experienced in any game and Liquid Ocelot is such a great villan to a great game. I remember waiting for this ever since i found out MGS3 was a prequel, I almost beat the whole entire game in one sitting. It was one hell of a ride from start to finish. Act 4 had to be the greatest nostalgia ever!

9. Super Mario 64 - No 3d mario game holds a candle to this one in my book. Still play it from time to time this very day. 120 stars ftw!

10. Demon Souls - This is the biggest surprise ive ever experienced out of nowhere in my years of playing video games. A few weeks ago i was just surfing gamespot and i see everyone talking about this game. I see IGN and other places giving it 9s and great scores. I see gamespots score and i hopped in the car the next minute and bought this beast. This game has no mercy on you and i love it so much. I will never sell this gem because im afraid i will never see it again.

Super Mario Brothers NES (think it's honestly my favorite mario game)

Knights of the Old Republic XBOX (got me into RPG's)

Gears of War Xbox360 (wasted soooo much times with College friends online in this game. such good memories)

Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time N64 (first N64 game I ever played. absolutely blew my mind)

Fallout 3 Xbox 360 (a good reminder of why I fell in love with rpg's, since I am picky picky picky when it comes to them)

Call of Duty 4 Xbox360 (great times online with friends. such a high octane campaign)

Halo:CE XBOX (now that's how you launch a new console!)

Mortal Kombat II SNES (best of the series, still have the SNES and the MKII cartridge for it. thank you Midway for making Reptile playable in that one)

Grand Theft Auto:Vice City PS2 (my all around favorite GTA game. can't wait for them to go back to Florida with the series)

Day of Defeat Source/Half Life 2 PC (when I got tired of consoles at the end of the PS2/GC/Xbox generation. there was Valve with these amazing games. lots of sleepless nights playing DoD until 5am lol)

no real order to these, just the best 10 I can think of off the top of my head.

In no particular order: Saga Frontier (PS1): The first RPG that I actually sat down and played through every bit of the game. I was captivated by the multiple stories and how they tangled together. The game was also really accessable to newcomers of the RPG genre. Still my favorite RPG of all time. Half-Life 2 (PC): At the time of it's release, I wasn't really into PC gaming. I built my first PC just to play this dandy and boy was it worth it. --Doom II (PC): I wasn't allowed to play this game when I was younger because my parents felt it would give me nightmares. Well, my older brother let my play it, and it did give me nightmares, but the game was so atmospheric and scary I couldn't get enough. Super Mario World (SNES): I don't think much needs to be said. Classic game. Pilot Wings 64 (N64): Unlike most people who got Mario 64 as their first game for the system, I got this. And just by chance I enjoyed everything about the game. Counter-Strike (PC): I've been addicted to this game since day one. I can stop whenever I want to...I just don't want to. Dark Reign (PC): Not a lot of people will remember this game. I found it in a bargin bin at Comp-USA for $5. Up untill that point, the only RTS I had enjoyed was Age Of Empires. This game showed me how fun and addicting they can be. Tekken 3 (PS1): A fighter with everything: depth, wide range of characters, many game modes and great graphics. I still play this game over all other Tekkens. Smash TV (NES): My earliest memory of a game. So much multiplayer fun. I think this next one deserves to be seperated from the rest: Metal Gear Solid (PS1): Not just a game but an interactive experience. Intense story, great stealth action and badass main character make this my fondest gaming memory. Honorable mentions: Zelda:WW and OoT Halo: CE Duke Nukem 3D EarthBound Contra Mario Kart 64 TMNT Turtles in Time Crash Badicoot 2 Super Mario Land

1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - The most complete and well-rounded single-player experience I had, and it re-ignited my love for games after losing interest for a few years.

2. Starcraft/Starcraft Brood War (PC) - Just addicting and fun as hell, so well-polished with lots of little cool details

3. World of Warcraft (PC) - I was blown away the first time I ever stepped foot in that world and lost myself in it for over a year. There's little or no gaming experience I can think of that is as exciting or rewarding as killing a difficult raid boss for the first time after weeks of work with your guild, especially if you're the one who stood toe-to-toe with the boss as I was

4. Doom/Doom II (PC) - Introduced me to FPS, deathmatches, and what not... the Doom ending still gives me the creeps

5. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) - So immersive and big, made me feel like I was transported to another time and place.

6. Star Wars: KOTOR (XBox) - I was totally sucked in by the story, impressed with the quality and dialogue of the characters, and that plot twist floored me. And how cool was it the first time you lit up your lightsaber?

7. Final Fantasy VI (SNES) - Still my favorite cast of characters in any game and had some real great moments.

8. Half-Life 2 (PC) - I actually didn't like Half-Life 1 a whole lot but gave into the hype and got Half-Life 2. I liked it more than I could have imagined; I still remember my heart racing during the battle on the bridge and going one-on-one with striders

9. The Legend of Zelda (NES) - The game probably looks like a bunch of bleeps and bloops to some players these days, but back then it really captured the imagination.

10. Zelda Majora's Mask (N64) - Liked it almost as much as Ocarina of Time.

Edit: if it was my top ten favorites instead of experiences, I'd have Galaga arcade in there somewhere instead

No particular order:

Halo 2- The game itself was alright, but we spent a lot of time on the game doing tournaments and having fun screwing around, it was really the first halo that introduced me into the series.

Super Mario 64- The 3rd N64 game I played, It set the standards to modern day platformers, and it is still a blast to pick up and play.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time- 2nd game I got for the N64, it was mindblowing to how good the game was, still a classic to this very day.

InFamous- I don't know what made InFamous so special, but it may be due to the fact that its Sucker Punches new IP, I thought nearly everything about the game was very good, the only downside to the game I thought was some character animations.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess- I don't know why so many people disliked TP, it was a great game. TP added a lot to the Zelda gameplay while keeping the classic Zelda formula still there, and it was the first Wii game I played.

Metal Gear Solid 4- Everything about this game is "Solid" (No pun intended), from the graphics, gameplay, to the story. The emotions that they put into the characters was outstanding, and the cutsceanes were deatailed and well thought through. I still tear up to this day to the thought of the MGS series over.

Super Mario Galaxy - To me, Galaxy was the real spawn of SM64, SMS was too much of something new and it threw out the feel of mario, this game brought back many memories, the music is outstanding and its still one of my favorite soundtracks to this day. The physics they used is pretty good for what the Wii can handle, and this plus Galaxy 2 and Zelda Wii is the only reasons as to why I have not sold my Wii.

Uncharted 2: Among Theives- Amazing game, everything about this game is amazing, also this is Naughty Dog's first shot at Multiplayer, and they did everything so well. The game really does feel like a movie!

World of Warcraft- This game is fun. Its addictiing though, I spent a year playing the game up until the launch of Wrath of the Lich King and my mother made me quit because she thought that the Devil was behind it xD. But many memories went into the game and the game itself was made so well, its crazy!

Kingdom Hearts 2- This game makes me cry its so good, I don't know whats so great about it because it just seems like Disney and Square Enix got crazy one day and had a baby, but the graphics were revolutionary on the PS2, the music was good, the story, the voice acting. It was all there.
